5k

I had made it a goal to do a 5k every month this year so when we decided to go the Ireland this month I had to do a 5k.  I decided to do the one on Bloomsday on the beach.  I have never run on the beach but I beat my personal best by 6min.  My new time is 33:10. I was really excited.

Upper Lake

At Glendalough there are two lakes.  Our tour guide wanted us to be able to see the lakes so she took us to an extra stop so that we could get some pictures.  As we were taking pictures the rain was coming though the gap of the mountains and we had to run back to the bus.  When rain is coming it comes fast!  We also ended up leaving two people from our tour.  They didn't get back to the bus in time so we left.  They had to stay at the hotel until the next day when the next tour came.

Glendalough

We went to Glendalough (pronounced glen-da-lock) on our tour.  It is an ancient monastic site in the mountains.  We were really lucky to have the sun shining while we were there.  This was the prettiest part we had seen of Ireland thus far.

Powerscourt Estate

The next stop on our tour was to Powerscourt Estate.  This was the most beautiful house with large gardens.  There was a path that went all the way around and they estimated it to take about an hour to see it all.  There was a rose garden, pet cemetery, Italian Garden, and Japanese garden.  They had to have an army of landscapers to keep this place up but it was amazing and worth the trip to see it.

Bray

On Saturday we took a tour of the Wicklow Mountains.  Our first stop was Bray Beach.  We had visited this town earlier on our trip to go to church but we didn't make it down to the beach.  The beach was full of rocks instead of sand and they were the most perfectly smooth rocks I have ever seen.  Lottie brought some back onto the bus with us.

Grafton Street

Grafton Street is a very popular place in Dublin.  It is full of expensive shops and eateries.  There are also many street performers.  This is the place to watch your stuff because it is your best chance to have it stolen.  My favorite thing on the street are the flower vendors.  The flowers are amazing!

Lemon

One of my favorite places so far has been Lemon.  We stopped here to have crepes and they were awesome!  We got sweet crepes but they also have savoury crepes that include things such as mexican, philly steak and so forth.  I can't wait to go back to get a savoury crepe.  I thought they sounded horrible until I saw one!  Hinton got ice cream and let me tell you, they know how to do ice cream in Ireland!
