Learning something new seemed like a good way to end and start a year.  I started my first ever embroidery last night!  I'm making a decorative bookmark. :3  It ended up as a bunny sketch (Year of the Rabbit in mind?), and I started by outlining last night.  Amazingly I actually did see midnight in the process, my mom and I watched Love Actually while I stitched so it was a very quiet New Years.

I did the filling stitches tonight while watching The Cat Returns and the first few episodes of Castle season 2 (<3) still need to fill the tail and do whatever background but that can wait for awhile or at least until my thumb stops being sore.  Sometimes forcing the embroidery floss through takes somewhat more effort than other times.

I think my desire to do embroidery was inspired by a combination of all the nightgowns and doll dresses and things my gramma made for me when I was little, and the details of Kaori Mori's "Otoyomegatari" manga [behind the scenes work].  Yen Press has picked it up!  I hope they'll hurry and publish it soon.  What I've seen so far of it is stunning.
