About
Brit Bachmann is an artist, curator and cultural worker based in Vancouver and Burnaby, Canada, on unceded lands belonging to the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Kwikwetlem First Nations. Brit uses clay and atmospheric kiln alchemy to investigate the uncanny. Informed by traditional craft and ritual, her practice combines experimental ceramic forms, found objects, photography, and writing, in pursuit of the sublime.

Brit is the Ceramic Arts Programmer for the City of Burnaby at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. She has previously worked for UNIT/PITT Society for Art and Critical Awareness, DOXA Documentary Film Festival, The Cinematheque, Discorder Magazine, and VIVO Media Arts Centre. Brit is co-founder of the art writing magazine, ReIssue.pub (2021-24). She enjoys writing about art and cultural criticism, and has a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of British Columbia. Brit has been an artist-in-residence at Medalta in Medicine Hat, AB; Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, BC; and Shakespeare and Company in Paris, FR. She is a member of the programming committee for DOXA Documentary Film Festival, and chair of the 2026 Canadian Clay Symposium.
