I hate it when people do this. Seriously.
My mom is going to kill me. She just figured out how to add me to her favorites list.
But the time has come.
I'm changing my blog address.
Sorry, Mom.
Now my blog will be here www.brittsmitten.typepad.com .
Please save it and keep checking in on us.
Hey, now you can even leave me comments about how sexy I am.
I love you all!

Fun For All
I ordered these cool vases this week. Aren't they pretty?
Now I just need to know what to do with them. Any suggestions? Do I just leave them? Do I fill them with something fun? Come on, creative friends and relatives. I need your suggestions. I'm not good at this.
The vases came packaged in lots of fun. The kids turned the boxes into spaceships, race cars and beds.

The bubble wrap stretched all the way around our house.
My kids were entertained all weekend.

HSM3

Shaylin and I went on a mommy-daughter date Friday to see this movie. (We invited Skyler, but he said, “Well, considering that I didn’t like #1 or #2, I think I’ll pass.) Shaylin isn’t a huge fan of those movies, but she loves music and popcorn, so she had fun.
That movie totally really reminded me of my high school:
~ the spontaneous, choreographed dancing in the halls,
~ the students' healthy acceptance of each other's differences,
~ the hot guys in the drama department,
~ and the girls who dressed like hookers for school (actually, that one does ring a bell).

This week I got creative
I loved President Uchtdorf's talk at Women's Conference about finding happiness. I loved how he pointed out that Christ did not just serve, He created. I loved this quote,
"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.
Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.
Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty—and I am not talking about the process of cleaning the rooms of your teenage children."
I love that he gave me liberty to be creative without always feeling like I am being selfish. Sometimes when I'm making something pretty I feel guilty that I'm not making something practical - like dinner, or ironed clothes or a washed dog.
So this week, I got creative.
I scrapbooked a little.

I made this for a friend.
Shaylin and I made baked apples JUST FOR FUN.

And I even did Shay's hair like this.
And guess what? I still made dinner, and ironed clothes, and washed the dog.
But I felt happier.

Health Insurance
I remember that after Sawyer was born, our health insurance agent called and said,
"We just wanted to contact you and congratulate you on the adoption of your son. We are all very happy for you here".
Then he said, "We also need to inform you that you must increase your family's health insurance policy. Your premiums will now go up $100 a month".
I thought that was a kind of rude congratulations call.
I have now decided that the joke is on them because I'm pretty sure that we are going to get our money's worth with this little guy.
Have you noticed how completely comfortable he is in the air?!?
Jason has decided that with Sawyer, the landing is the last thing on his mind.
When I am in the air, the landing is the ONLY thing on my mind.
I love this kid.

Viva Mexico!
Last night, Jason and I got home from ten days in Cancun, Mexico. You should see how tan and fat we are.
We had so much fun! We stayed at an all-inclusive resort on the beach. That means that all of our food, drinks, entertainment, transportation and room service were included. Oh yah.
The resort we chose is a nature reserve. It feels like you are staying at a little paradise right smack in the middle of a huge jungle. We had our own little bungalow with a hot tub, a deck and hammock.

To get to the restaurants, pools or entertainment areas, we walked along paths lined with dense foliage and flowers. It was beautiful and it smelled so good.
The resort is a wildlife preserve, so we saw lot of animals too.
Everywhere we went someone was offering us drinks, food, massages or scented towels. I keep looking around today wondering where Alfredo is with my drink.
I think Jason drank over a hundred virgin Pina Coladas while we were there. And he insisted on ordering room service every night at about 11:00. He was so happy.
We went snorkeling, kayaking, shopping, touring and boogie boarding in the ocean. We went to shows, laid on the beach, watched movies and read for hours. Oh, it was beautiful.
Have you noticed from the pictures that there was no one else there? The resorts get really empty in September and October. It was fabulous.
It was also really fun to speak Spanish again. But the best part of the trip, was just having all that time alone with Jason. He is always kind, always patient and always fun. He’s my favorite. ☺
