Zombie Nation Publishing supports RAINN

Greetings Citizens,

Just thought I would do a quick update to say that ZOMBIE NATION PUBLISHING has donated a bite (haha) of their proceeds to Rainn.org, the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network.

ZOMBIE NATION PUBLISHING supports RAINN!

This is a very great organization and was started by one of (editor-in-chief) Aaron Alper’s favorite musicians, Tori Amos. He played me one of Tori’s songs earlier today. She is some piano player! My fingers would fly off if I tried to play like that!

Anyway, check this site out.

Bub’s Thankful Thanksgiving List

Greetings Citizens,

The folks at Zombie Nation told me to write something about Thanksgiving. They said, “Bub, make a list of what you’re thankful for.”

I love assignments like this. I have a lot to be thankful for, and I love Thanksgiving.

I also love making lists.

And now, for your enjoyment, I give you:

BUB’S THANKFUL THANKSGIVING LIST

A zombie turkey from "A Civic Dilemma" Blog!

1)      I am thankful that I am a zombie. Most people, when they die, are dead. Not me! I get another chance to make things right, to succeed in death where I failed in life (which, coincidentally, was almost everything I tried).

2)      I am thankful for pumpkins. They are incredibly funny and they work for both Halloween and Thanksgiving. I also like Jack Skellington.

3)      I am thankful for cow brains. Thank you, Mr. (or Mrs.) Cow for giving me your brains, so that I may have feast upon them and, in return, not attack the editors at Zombie Nation (which I would never do).

4)       I am thankful for slaughterhouse workers. These kind Americans work day and night (how do they manage to do that?) to make sure I constantly have a bucket of cow brains at my side. I wonder what it’s like to work in a slaughterhouse. I bet it would be really unpleasant. All that death around you, all day, every day. It’s kind of horrible, actually.

5)      I am thankful that I don’t work at a slaughterhouse.

6)      Last, but not least, I am thankful for the little things. Paying attention to the little things is what makes (un)life truly (un)livable. For example:

a) My legs still work (and haven’t fallen off in weeks).

b) My teeth are still in my skull (most of the time).

c)  My breath no longer smells like a toilet.

d) I’m sure there are other examples….

So there you have it, folks. The things that I, Bub Romero, am thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving (and Yours),

-Bub Romero.

P.S. I just thought of another “little thing”!

e) My fingers are still able to type out “What I am Thankful for” lists (as a side note, I am also thankful to Super-Glue).

Raffle of the Living Dead!

Greetings Citizens,

Look what we have going on at ZOMBIE NATION:

These t-shirts are super funny, aren’t they? Boy howdy, did I laugh hard. Shot an eyeball clean out of my head.

So buy two copies and enter the raffle! You have nothing to lose (unless you shot your eyeball out over a bridge or something)!

-Bub Romero

An article, Amazon, and a Cat Named Muffins

Greetings Citizens,

I would like to point out that a lovely article was written about ZOMBIE NATION in THE SUNCOAST NEWS. You can view it here:

http://suncoastpasco.tbo.com/content/2010/nov/03/PWNEWSO1-author-talks-zombies-at-middle-school/

(NOTE: You can see Aaron’s flannel shirt in the background. I am not sure where his head went.)

Also, ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE is available on AMAZON.COM. So if you’re interested in buying it there, you can.

But please buy through the website.

I really like going to the mailbox. Firstly, it’s fun to turn the key to open the box. Secondly, I always see a cat (who I named Muffins) who arches up its back and hisses (kitty code for “hello”) at me every time.

I wish I had my own Muffins.

Ok. That’s all for now.

Yours,

-Bub Romero.

My brain hurts…

Greetings Citizens,

I am wracking (racking?) my brain for some new ideas to help promote ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE…

Do you have an ideas?

Actually, I think my brain might be leeking…

This might dufibutely bee a prooblum…

Yurs,

-Bob Rumero

(Editors note: Bub needs a day off so we can stuff his brains back into his head. Stand by.)

Premieres and Premieres!

Greetings Citizens,

ZOMBIE NATION has had a busy weekend!

Our event at the FESTIVAL OF READING this weekend went awesome!  We sold loads of books and I had so much fun meeting everyone! ZOMBIE NATION Editor-in-Chief Aaron Alper told me that (since I behaved and didn’t eat anyone) I will be allowed to come out more often!

Weeeeeeeee!!!

Speaking of Aaron, he will be attending the premiere of DEAD SEASON, a Tampa-based zombie film, that is premiering on October 28th at  on the MUVICO THEATRE in YBOR CITY! It’s a free screening, so everyone should come out! Here’s the link below:

http://www.deadseasonmovie.com/

Also, on Friday Aaron(along with make-up artist Becca Roberts) will be visiting River Ridge Middle School and River Ridge High School to discuss the behind-the-scenes madness that produced ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE!

Ok. I better sign off. I have to tidy up the ZOMBIE NATION offices. There are a lot of chocolate wrappers and liquor bottles lying around, and they aren’t going to throw themselves away!

Yours,

-Bub Romero

The Big Dead Day is Almost Here!

Greetings Citizens,

The big day is almost here!

ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE!

The folks at ZOMBIE NATION have a big day planned:

They will be at the ST. PETE TIMES FESTIVAL OF READING from 10am-4pm, which is located at the University of South Florida St. Pete, 140 7th Avenue S, St. Pete, 33701.

Highlights include

ZOMBIES 101, presented by Dr. Tony Bologna in USF PRW 118 from 12:15pm-1:00pm. The editors say that “it’s not like any other class you’ve been to before”. I believe them; I mean, I have never taken a zombie class and I am a zombie!

Author signings from 1:00PM-1:45PM!

-A ZOMBIE NATION STAND complete with a  “MEAT” THE ZOMBIE PHOTO BOOTH (featuring ME!), ZOMBIE MAKE-UP courtesy of our make-up artist BECCA ROBERTS, as well as ZOMBIE GAMES and PRIZES!

-Not to mention tons of other authors and books that will be sure to blow your mind!

Then, after that, ZOMBIE NATION wants you to trot down to THE PIER at 800 2nd Ave NE, ST. Pete, 33701 (it’s so close!) to celebrate ALL THINGS ZOMBIE (from 5pm-8pm).

-A live music show from local band HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL from 7:30-8:30pm in the Courtyard (it’s in the back). Rumor has it they’ll be zombified!

-Then, if that wasn’t enough, join the after party at CHA-CHA COCONUTS (located upstairs on the 5th floor) for ZOMBIE DRINK SPECIALS and an encore performance by THRILL ST. PETE!

Phew. Ok. I am officially pooped.

Or did I just take a poop?

I’ll figure it out!

Hope to see you at all the events!

Yours,

-Bub Romero

Sandwich Stress! And News!

Greetings Citizens,

ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE is almost finished and I’m glad. Things are getting crazy here. I won’t name names, but yesterday I caught one of the editors yelling at a sandwich.

While they were going to the bathroom.

In the living room.

I’m no psychologist, but I think that’s stress!

Don’t worry though. It isn’t all bad. In fact, the editors and artists are actually doing some cool promotional stuff! They gave me a list, which I will now give to you:

-Last week editors Aaron Alper and Jason Cook gave an interview to WUSF in Tampa. Check back for broadcast times!

-On Thursday, editor Aaron Alper will give a presentation on ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE to the Board of Trustees at USF St. Pete and, after that, the whole group is going down to City Hall to accept an award from City Council member Steve Kornell!

-Next Monday, editor Aaron Alper will be interviewed by FOX 13 anchorwoman Nerissa Prest for the weekend edition of Good Day, Tampa Bay!

That’s a lot of news, isn’t it? I hope there will be more before the release on October 23rd.

But then again, I don’t want there to be another sandwich incident.

It took me three hours to clean that mess up!

Yours,

-Bub Romero.

The Book is Off!

Greetings Citizens,

Well, the book is off to the printer. Just in case you haven’t seen the official cover art by J.R. Duffy, here it is:

Image

Woo-hoo!

Things for you to remember:

-Sign up for THRILL THE WORLD at www.thrillstpete.com. The dance schedule is up! You too can be a zombie from “Thriller”!

-Editor Aaron Alper is presenting to the Board of Trustees at USFSP on October 14th.  It’s intimidating business, but Aaron is going to be taking vitamins called “beta-blockers”.

-October 23rd is the official day of ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE! For more info, check out www.zombienationpublishing.com. We are gonna be at The Pier and the Festival of Reading 2010!

Well, the final edits are about to happen. I will keep you posted on any new news!

Yours,

-Bub Romero.

Zombies, Photos, and Update

Greetings Citizens,

It’s almost October. Wow. Time really flies when you’re chained to a desk.

I have a lot of updates for you!

1) As you may or may not know, ZOMBIE NATION: ST. PETE is going to be attending the Festival of Reading 2010. There will be a booth where you can buy the book, play games (courtesy of Books at Park Place), or have your picture taken with…wait for it…

Me!

I am so excited that I get a chance to do stuff this time!

I hope I don’t smell too bad.

The Nation will also have an exhibit! Starting at 12:30pm on October 23rd, people will be able to attend “Zombies 101” and hear the history of the zombie from esteemed professor Dr. Tony Bologna!

Image

Here's our ad!

I don’t know if I am going to attend the class. I never did well in history.

Or math.

Or Home Ec.

2) After the Pier Premiere Party (which runs from 5PM-8PM), Cha-Cha Coconuts will be hosting the Zombie Nation: St. Pete After Party from 8PM-11PM! The night will feature performances from Have Gun, Will Travel and an encore performance of “Thriller” by Thrill St. Pete, and a zombie-themed drink!

Image

And another ad!

3) I guess there was only those two updates.

4) Oh wait! We have some new pictures for you to enjoy!

She seems nice enough.

I can't believe how well he imitated me!

Well, that’s all for now!
