I've heard this advice for as long as I can remember. My response is ......
Yeah Right.
I'd like to know what Mom has time to take a nap when their baby is napping. I've never been able to for a number of reasons.
I'll just list Two.
First, any time I've actually attempted sleep, the moons realign and the moment my head hits the pillow a Baby belts out a cry.
Second, I have so many thoughts racing in my mind from:
what's for dinner? I have to prepare for Sunday's lesson. I really should clean the backyard. Crap, I forgot to start the laundry. I really should get my foot checked out, it really hurts. Who can babysit on Wednesday? When are we getting paid again? I want a snack. I really should stop snacking. Those birds make too much noise. I should call my Dad. I need to clean the fan. I'm definitely getting a snack.
After 10 Minutes of random thoughts and questions :
Well I'm not sleeping, I guess I'll get up.
There's no serenity in my head!
Then after a long day, including a failed nap attempt, I pass out on the couch around 9:00 and sleep like a baby with no care, question or thought in my head until my husband wakes me around 11:30 and says "Time for bed".
So I guess I do get my nap in after all. It just happens from 9-11:30 at night.
