Merry Christmas

Well I thought I should hurry and post our Christmas pics before the baby comes and I ignore the world for a little while. Just a side note...no I have not had the baby yet and have no signs of her coming other than my due date is in a few days. Hopefully she will decide to join us soon. Anyway, we had a fun holiday this year even though I felt so tired the entire time. My parents are in town for Christmas and we spent Christmas Eve at my aunts house with lots of family; cache had a blast with all the kids. We were awoken early Christmas morning with cache calling out to everyone that he was ready to open his presents. Dave and I bought him a miniature trampoline. It is perfect because he can get on and off by himself and I don't have to worry about him falling off or getting hurt. We have been just hanging out the rest of the time...unfortunately we all got sick with a cold and cough but hopefully it is almost done running its course. I am so worried about having a baby at this time of the year; I hope she stays healthy and we don't have any problems. Well, that has been our Christmas in a nutshell. Hopefully we will get the new addition to our family in the next couple of days. Happy Holidays! (PS sorry all the pics are out of order.)

What would you do...?

Last night was a traumatic night for me. I decided to go get my nails done and do a little shopping while dave stayed at home and put cache to bed. I was heading home around 9 and decided to stop at the Mcdonalds on Gilbert and Germann. While I was in the drive thru I looked out the window and there was a truck in the sears parking lot and I saw an older man pushing a younger (like in her early twenties) into the truck and slam the door. He started walking to the driver seat and I see her open the door as he runs back over and shoves her back into the car and slams the door again. Have you ever watched those 20/20 or datelines that interview the girls getting kidnapped in broad daylight in very public areas and no one did anything to help them? I always watched those and vowed to never be one of the onlookers that just stare and say oh well, must be domestic or whatever. But I have to say when in that situation I sat there dumbfounded not really knowing what to do. I wanted to drive by the car and get the license plate number but there were cars blocking me in the drive thru and I couldn't understand why no one else was concerned. So after the man pushed the girl in the car the second time he just stood at her door yelling at her to stay in the car...lotsa cuss words...and she opened the door again yelling for help which at that point I began to dial 911. I then saw she ran out of the car to the nearby restaurant and the man took off. I hung up the phone because I saw another lady standing at the restaurant on the phone telling the girl to get inside. The police called my phone back and I gave them a description of what was going on and they did say the other lady at the restaurant had also called and reported it. After the entire incident was over I think it looked like a dispute between a parent and child because of the way it was played out, but it made me think...why did I wait so long to call the police and why were there so many people around and yet only one lady was walking towards the car? Should we really all mind our own business? What if that was you? What if no one helped you and you were taken. All I can say was that was a little too emotional of a night for a 9 1/2 month pregnant woman. I cried all the way home to a very concerned husband.

So, basically November...

Wow it is the end of the month and I am that much closer to having this baby. I am so very ready to pop this one out. This month in November I am no longer really sleeping very well, am usually in pain, have lotsa heartburn, and have had my patience and sanity pushed to my limit with an unamed 2 year old. However, November has also brought family, friends, parties, and my favorite...a finished baby room. Whoopie!!! My family (except for Clayton and Tiaunna) came out for Thanksgiving. I wish we could live by all of our family so we could see eachother more often. We all had a blast and Cache like always loves the attention he gets. Grandpa never even complained about being woken up each morning between 6:30 and 7 to cache staring at him waiting for him to wake up. He always seemed to be the one who cache chose to visit first each morning. My mom and sister in law Annie threw me a baby shower which looked super cute and we had a bunch of fun games that I think everyone really enjoyed. I am so thankful for my family and friends, it really means a lot to me that they have taken the time to support me. I cannot even begin to thank my mom who has done so much for me while here in AZ, she helped me make everything for my baby room, put up with my emotional meltdowns these past few weeks, helped me with cache, and helped throw me a baby shower. I couldn't ask for a better mom. I love this time of the year because you get to constantly be reminded of the things you are thankful for and the people in your life who are so important.

The food at the shower was delicious...lots of yummy treats and crepes made my uncle who is a great baker.

Baby Room

Ok so I have been obsessed with getting the baby room ready...I have this compulsive disorder that does not allow me to accomplish anything else unless I get my project done. With my mom in town things have been rolling along pretty good. We have a few more big projects and then everything else is pretty small and just accessories. I think it is turning out so cute and am happy with the results. I posted a few pics just to prove my progress!

Image So the silver leafing dresser did not pan out and it was just so much easier to paint the dresser white and add some cute knobs. Originally bought some knobs at Anthropolgie for like $8 a knob then went to hobby lobby and they had the EXACT same knobs on sale for $2 each. Took those puppies back to Anthropologie and saved myself some moola!
Image Baby Bedding I just finished making...some mistakes here and there (which make me so mad after how long it takes) but all in all it turned out good.

Image I have curtains to match but they are at the cleaners so when more progress is made I will post more pics.

Halloween 2009

We had so much fun this Halloween. Grandma was here to join us, the night was perfect (like 70 degree weather,) and we went trick or treating with neighbors and cache's cousin Luke. My little Cachey was so cute to watch...he was in heaven running from house to house saying trick or treat and getting candy. I thought after a while he would get tired but we went for over an hour and a half and he was still going strong. We are so lucky to have had such a fun group for him to go with, it made it so much fun. After we got home and Cache went to bed we ate some of our favorite candies, threw most of it away, and left a few more for him to eat. To be honest I was more afraid I would eat all the candy then I am about him eating it. Oh being pregnant around the holiday's is just asking for major weight gain.

Potty Training 101

It has now been about 2 1/2 weeks since we began the whole potty training. I felt like Cache was ready and with the urging from my pediatrician to get him potty trained before the baby I decided we should start earlier than later in case things fall flat. I must say that he is about 80% potty trained with a little problem areas here and there. Most of the day he doesn't have accidents although it seems some days are better than others. He doesn't really tell me when he has to go potty I just keep asking him like every hour and remind him he gets candy if he goes on the potty (yes I am one of those parents who has no shame in bribing her child!) However, we have come across a rough patch and I am in need of any advice anyone can give me. Cache has never pooped on the potty, he would either do it in his underwear or on the floor or in his pull ups. So on saturday we tried all day to get him to go on the toilet and would remind him if he goes poop on the potty he gets a toy (again the bribing tactics.) Well when evening rolled around he started crying that his bum bum hurt and was running around like a looney person holding his butt. We assumed he had to poop but was either confused on where to go or constipated. So we tried putting him on the toilet, read books, sat there forever....nothing. For like an hour he would just cry and I finally had enough and put a diaper on him. Still he wouldn't poop. He just cried and ran around saying it hurt, I seriously was at my witts end. So we went in the bathroom (with his diaper on) and I just rubbed his belly and tried to get him to relax and he finally went. Then the next day it happened again so I didn't know what to do other than just put a diaper on and ignore him. We haven't mentioned to "poop" word around him for the past few days, but I just don't know what to do. I decided to do nothing yesterday and leave him in his underwear all day (except at nap and bedtime I put a pull up on) and he just didn't poop. This is very unusual for my child. Nothing so far today but I am sure he is bound to run around crying at some point holding his butt. What do I do? I feel so bad but I really just don't want to scare him anymore about pooping and I know it hurts him waiting so long. I think this is what I get for the peeing part being so easy. Anyway, any suggestions would be helpful.

My baby room visions...

We have finished painting the baby room...I love the color I am just hoping furniture looks ok with it. So I convinced dave we could sand and repaint the crib and dresser white...wow it is a lot of work. I have done this a million times but when dealing with a 2 year old and being pregnant in 100 degree weather it is much harder than I imagined. So I had another idea, since I have pretty much gotten the dresser paint ready (stripped and primed) and am so worn out maybe I could convince dave to let me sell our crib and buy a cheaper already white one. He agreed (only because I think I had a melt down week and he just didn't want any more) and in one day sold my crib on craigslist. So I have been researching and found a cheaper crib that seems to be pretty durable and made by a good company and.......they have no sales tax and free shipping this month. Yeah! Now back to my dresser I am thinking I want to paint it silver, I tried the silver spray paint and it shows everything so I am trying to figure out what it would look like if I silver leafed over it. Has anyone done this to furniture before. I am afraid it is going to take forever and not turn out like my vision..ImageIsn't it beautiful. This is the creation in my head...hopefully I can make something similiar. I am not holding my breath.

ImageOur first Mexican bus ride (not as bad as in China but still not great)

ImageSo we made it home safe from Mexico....no swine flu, no hurricane, and no drug lords kidnapped any of us. We did come home with a little food poisoning (dave got it the worst) but for the most part we are all in one piece. We flew into Puerto Vallarta with my mom, brother, sister in law, aunts, uncles, and a family friend. It was hot and humid but so beautiful. We stayed in an all inclusive resort which did not have the best food but if I were to do it again I would definently go all inclusive with children. Never having to wonder where to eat and deal with children in a restaurant was worth the not so great food. Lots of swimming in the pool and ocean and a few trips downtown. It was so nice to have my brother there who lived there at one time and speaks fluent spanish...it made finding things much easier. Cache had a blast staying up late and getting lots of attention. He loved, loved, loved the pool and did so well shopping in town in the sweltering heat, OK not so bad just the humidity was bad(we didn't realize how hot and sweaty we would be so he went shirtless around town for awhile. His head was soaked with sweat he was so hot!) I enjoyed relaxing which was really not relaxing more like worrying that cache would fall in the pool when dave was not watching him close enough or climbing the railing on the balcony four stories up and falling. However, towards the end of the trip I think I mellowed a little and tried to just enjoy it all. I did get stung in my finger by a stupid bee that landed in my hair and when I went to swat it out it stung me. My finger swelled up and hurt for awhile.

We had so much fun hanging out with my family and wish my dad and sister could be there. I loved waking up and sending cache over to my moms room so I could get a few more zzzz's, wish that could happen every morning! It's always such a sad feeling to leave my family, I hope we don't have to always end our vacations with not being able to see eachother for months at a time.

Cache's New Room

Yay! We just got Cache's new furniture (thank you cortate furniture for great stuff at great prices) and got his room all set up. I am so excited! The bed is a little high, hopefully he doesn't fall off. I have been putting pillows around his bed until he gets use to it. So we are going to have some material I found made into a quilt for his bed and once that is finished I will be done with his room until I can finish the babies room and figuring out what to do with all the stuff I had stored in the baby room. Anyway, I am just so happy with the furniture and how it turned out. I will show pics later of the color I chose for babies room, I fell in love the minute I put it on the walls. It is such a great color. It's always fun to make some changes. :)

Utah...my home

ImageWelcome to our cottage!

Last week Cache and I went to Utah so we could join our family for Raspberry Days in Bear Lake. It was amazing weather and we had such a blast...hopefully next time Dave will be able to join us. Cache loved Grandpa's boat and Aunt Kendall and Uncle Isaac's four wheelers. Whenever they would go out on the motorcycles he would have to stand on the porch watching them leave and then wait for them to return. We went out on the boat, however, the water was freezing. I got in just to swim and Clayton and Tiaunna were the only ones who would wakeboard. Lots of movies, fun times, and yummy raspberry shakes. We stayed in SLC the rest of the time and enjoyed the perfect weather. I think cache just enjoyed the fact he could run around all day outside and not fry. Sadly, we had to come home...it just seemed to quick.

My mind has been on overload...

I am now home from Utah, which was so much fun, and I have been rearranging my house like a mad woman on speed. I don't know why I get ideas in my head and then they have to be done right then with or without the help of my husband. So after going to my mom's house and seeing her room decorated downstairs I decided I needed all of the stuff in that room for my baby room. I had been trying to think of what I wanted to do with the room and once I saw the pink, cream, and silver's I knew that is exactly what I wanted to do. Think 1920's inspired silk's and satin's and oh so romantic. Having the loving mother I have, she agreed to let me have the curtains (half made) and the quilt (to take apart and make baby bumpers.) Still a lot of work to do, but I am sooooo excited. So now I just have to wait to get Cache's bed and dresser to arrive so I can get his room organized which will allow me to get the babies room cleaned out. We (cache did help pushing the book case into the office) moved furniture and boxes of fabric from the soon the be babies room into the office, where now I have to figure out where to put all that stuff. I wonder if when homebuilders design homes they think, hmmm...how can I make this home have as little storage as possible. I don't know how whoever built our home could have had so many opportunities to put storage in places and just thought, nah. Oh how I loathe that person right now. Anyway, here is my question to anyone who knows an answer; I am using cache's crib and dresser which are a dark cherry stained pine wood (I think it is pine.) There are so many scratch and bite marks, how can I sand and restain it? Can I just use regular stain? Do I need to put a finish on it? Will it work or will you be able to tell that I just refinished certain parts of the crib? Anyone know?

So next blog I will blog about my adventures in Utah and Bear Lake, it was so beautiful. Until then here are some amazing nursery rooms from projectnursery.com...ImageImage

So not much has been happening lately. I am starting to feel better and have actually left the house a few times this past week. In the past 2 1/2 months I can probably count the amount of times I have left my house on one hand. There were very few. Cache has been so patient with me these past few months. He has also grown so much. I love his responses to everything. Some of my new favorite things are when I am singing to him before bed and he is all sleepy and after each song says, "one more time" and holds up his fingers. He copies everything we say and I can't believe how well he remembers words and he can count to five. I put Cache in a regular bed and he has done so good. I guess he is afraid to get out of it by himself because he still yells at me each morning to come get him. It works out well for us since we don't have to worry about him climbing in and out constantly. At least for now. Well I thought I would just post some pics we took today, just another lazy sunday.
