Christmas 2010

We are home from our christmas vacation in Utah. I will miss the snow but I am not missing lugging kids around in the cold. We had so much fun and like usual it goes by too quickly. I know the kids are happy to be home and Cache has been asking to come home for a few days now. Christmas was good and now it is on to planning a first birthday party on New Years Day. Wish me luck!

D-land

Disneyland! I have always disliked disneyland. I think it is because the last time I went I was in my early teens, hated the world, so embarressed of my family, and did not want to be at the "happiest place on earth." I wish I had a photo of that time...I can just see myself cringing when my mom made us stand together and take a picture. Anyway, we decided to head to orange county to visit dave's "bff" (he was in such a great mood the whole weekend) and try my luck once again at disneyland. It turned out to be such a great trip, the kids did awesome in the car, we stayed in a great hotel, had fabulous company, and loved disneyland. I didn't want to leave. It is a rare occassion that I am not ready to go home from a vacation but I truly didn't want to go. Sadly, we made it home just in time for lyla to get sick...poor baby.

I had to give a shout out to Joy who sat and watched my baby while I got to go on a few rides with cache and dave. How awesome is that? Especially when each line is like a 20 minute wait...minimum.

Halloween Pics

I thought it would be fun to take pics of the kids in their costumes...I love Halloween. I think we should just dress up at least once a month.

Lyla's Hanbok

So I am preparing for Lyla's first birthday even though its not for a few months. It's a really big deal in korean culture and my culture, the culture of event planning. I just really like planning parties. So we are doing a vintage theme and I just keep coming across websites with the cutest ideas.

Image
Lyla's hanbok I ordered from Korea! It said it can take up to 28 days...hopefully it comes sooner.

This is my dream cake...it is so beautiful.
Image
Isn't this party amazing...I wish this is what I could make Lyla's look like. I seriously think these people spent more money on their daughters first birthday then I did on my wedding reception...eek!

I love this banner made of old vintage hankies.

I think I should just quit school and plan parties. That would be the best job, always making people have a good time. Sigh...I think my current job (being a mom)has been the exact opposite lately, screaming kids alllllll the time does not = a good time!

Grandma left us today to go back home to Utah. She came and visited for a few weeks for Gigi's 80th birthday. It's always hard to see her go, it makes me think back to when we decided to move to Arizona and leave our house and family. It actually was a pretty easy decision then but I am sure if I had a redo we would not have packed up and left. I wish I were in the crisp fall weather and the colorful mountains with changing leaves. Halloween always meant haunted houses and spooky corn mazes. I guess I haven't looked much but I don't think they do a whole lot of those here. Also, no crisp air, 90+ degrees, I guess the weather didn't get the memo....we're over it!!!! On with life again and 6 AM wakeup calls from cache, it was kinda nice when he went to grandma's room instead of ours!

Image
Such a sweet face. I love that she is so mobile and just wants to get going. I swear her legs never stop kicking.
Image
We bought this for Halloween, however, mr. cache (gigi always calls him this) never takes it off. I think its payback for never allowing him to have a "superhero" costume until now. He wasn't even allowed PJ's (I was so afraid he would scream and cry and I would have to take him in public with them on, so I just avoided that problem). I am getting better...one step at a time.
Image
Lyla loves her walker. She can keep up with everyone and isn't stuck on the dirty ground. It makes me laugh because she reminds me of the toy on toy story that only has a head and a walker for a body.

So busy lately, but....

I always have time to scan the internet for inspiring things.

First, you must check out this blog http://jenniferkimphotography.com/blog/ she is a photographer that I do not know but love. She takes lots of pictures of the traditional 1st year korean birthday parties. Some of these people go all out and I am so wanting to do a traditional party for Lyla. We threw Cache a big party and although nothing like some of these people on the blog it was pretty good. However, I wish my husband or inlaws would have told me about a few of the traditional things I left out, just not really knowing about them.

So, this leads me to the second thing I fell in love with, I want this Hanbok for Lyla's birthday. We will be in Utah for Christmas so I was going to have her pictures taken there and thought the furry vest would be so cute with the snow.

The next thing I fell in love with was this dress. This picture is of some girl who again I don't know but this is their engagement picture. I wonder if dave would retake some engagement photo's so I could wear a dress like this. If you know someone getting engaged you need to tell them to wear a dress like this one, so cute!
Image

And lastly, we are attempting to make some vases like these for a primary activity. Hopefully they turn out just as cute! Don't you love hydreangas (how in the world do you spell that word?) They are so clean and cute looking.

I love the inspiration. Doesn't it make you feel so good to look at beautiful things? Its a good pick me up during nap time!

And one last post....

Image
Image

I have this crazy obsession with Jersey Shore. I know it is so sad and probably one of the worst shows on television but it is like passing an accident and you just cant stop looking and your yelling at everyone else to stop looking so traffic can keep going. This show is a total wreck from beginning to end, it degrades women, it makes "hooking up" with strangers as necessary as going to the bathroom but I just can't stop watching. It's absolutely outrageous and for that I am addicted. I have my very own "situation" (only the glasses not the attitude, he will get his butt kicked if he treats women the way the "real situation" treats women.) But doesn't he just look so cute!

Lake Powell 2010

Cache and Dave went out on the tube...I was holding my breathe the whole time praying cache wouldn't fall off.

I love this picture...Dave playing football, dad shooting the water gun, and cache in his own world playing the water.

Totally debated on posting this picture...I did just give birth 8 months ago and am still working on the weight, but I had to prove I did wake surf.

Clayton, you are a dork!

The other thing cache had to do everytime we were on the boat...drive. I kept telling Clayton and my dad to be careful he may just crank the wheel and we will all fly out. Luckily that didnt happen!

Lake Powell is always great...however, we all agreed a houseboat is a for sure next year. I felt good getting on the wakeboard and surf board with my post pregnancy body even if I could only last a few minutes. Wow that was a lot of work! We had fun except that I seriously broke or spranged my toe. It's still all black and blue.
