Uniting Visionary Leaders, Innovative Ideas, and Strategic Resources to Shape a Thriving Future Since 1989
The Canadian Association of Police Governance (CAPG) supports effective, civilian-led oversight of municipal police services. Since 1989, CAPG has provided police service boards, advisory boards and commissions with information, training and resources that help them govern in the public interest.
The National Police Governance Training and Development Program provides a structured learning pathway for new and experienced board members. The program outlines core governance responsibilities, legislative requirements, and the relationship between a board/commission/advisory board, the police service and its chief/detachment commander.
