They had a great time.
However, there was a little accident involving hot grease and Danny's leg. ***WARNING!!!*** These photos are nasty! Don't look if you are easily nauseated.
Danny called me in the evening (after the second day of fun) and told me that he was sending me some pictures. I was thrilled because I had wanted to see what they were doing. He told me that they weren't "those kind of pictures." He told me that they had been making hamburgers and that he had poured the hot grease into another frying pan on the ground. He went to go grab the sliced cheese for the burgers, forgot about the pan of grease and accidentally stepped on the pan. The hot grease flipped up the back of his leg.
Right after...

SO thankful he had on his runners.
They did everything wrong. They submerged his leg in ice water (you want to cool down the burn slowly to avoid any added damage to the burned skin). Then they tried to scrub off the grease. The good thing is that Danny was able to get a priesthood blessing.
This was the view the next morning.
Now THAT is a blister!
The side view.
After Danny got home the following day- we went to urgent care and got him some antibiotics, a tetanus shot and some silvadene creme. I thought we were good! But a few days later, his leg was really hurting. This is what is tricky with burns. With most injuries, after a few days- things should be getting better! But with burns- 5 days later things can be much worse. The skin was so tight that Danny couldn't straighten his leg. I was afraid that he needed it debrided so I got him an appointment at the UNC Burn Clinic. When I called, and told the receptionist his symptoms she got him RIGHT in! I warned Danny that they suggested that he take his pain meds before he went in.
This is the picture he sent me from his phone after they cleaned this area. The caption he included was "OUCH."
So- we started dressing changes twice a day. (They were really concerned about the area on his ankle.)
Then it started to heal... we are so very thankful!
Moral of the story- enjoy time with the scouts but REMEMBER where you put the grease pan!
