Pop Quiz: What Movie Am I Watching? (or was because I'm finished now)



I thought this would be easy! lol.

I'm screening comments to see how many of you get this correct :P

So seeing as how I'm supposed to be spending all my time on dissertation writing this summer, naturally I've been watching more tv than ever *sigh* This dissertation is just doomed! I'm just aiming at handing something in on September 1st, I don't even care about grades anymore. I just have to have 12.000 words at that point or else I would have to postpone graduation for a full year!

Anyways, I digress...

So it's been the time of discovering new (old) tv shows and so far my favorite has to be Modern Family. You guys, I did not think this would be a show I would enjoy! I guess I just always thought it was similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm or Arrested Development, you know those type of shows that make you feel so awkward that it's painful to watch. Well I hate shows like that and Modern Family is nothing like that! It's just so sweet and cute and fluffy and funny and happy. It is definitely my new happy place right now. I love ALLLLLLLL the characters THIS much!

Other shows I've discovered are White Collar and Hawaii Five-0. I instantly liked White Collar from the first episode I watched and I devoured the first two seasons in no time. Really enjoy the chemistry between Neal and Peter. It took me a little bit longer to really enjoy Hawaii Five-O. At first it was just too similar to every other cop show working on a case-by-episode and I wasn't really feeling it. But by the time I got to like the 10th episode or so I got into it. I enjoy the relationship between Steve and Danny even though I would never ship them really. I just do not find Scott Caan sexy at all. Maybe it's because I couldn't stand his character on Entourage even though it was just a character. Same reason why I HATE Seth Green now and refuse to watch anything with him in because of his "character" on Entourage. HATED him. And I know he wasn't acting himself even though it was supposed to be the real Seth Green but the damage is done. He did it probably too well and now I hate him.

Another show that I've discovered recently is Castle and I've just finished the first season. I like it a lot and I think that 100% because of Nathan Fillion. He's brilliant in it and just so likable. I don't really love the girl lead but I think that's mainly because she's so bland. The show reminds me a lot of Bones for some reason.

Anyways, then there have been new new shows that have started during this summer that I'm already loving, like Teen Wolf, Falling Skies, Necessary Roughness, Suits and Wilfred.

Teen Wolf reminds me a lot of Vampire Diaries, there are some similarities and it's not as good as VD but it's keeping me entertained until VD starts again :P Falling Skies started out really cool but it's been dragging on for a while now with the same storyline and I need some changes. I still find it very cool though! Necessary Roughness has been fun to watch and I really like the main character, the doctor. She's cool. Though her daughter is so obnoxious! But I love all tv/movies that are sport-related and this is kind of like that and so I enjoy it. I'm excited to continue watching it.

Suits is yet another lawyer drama which is something I've never been into but it just seems different. I don't know, I kinda like it. I think that's mainly because of Harvey, I like him :P It's not a show that I love but I'm excited for each new episode. Wilfred... I'm not sure about. Sometimes I find it very funny but other times I'm just scratching my head and thinking "WHAT IS GOING ON?!!" I think it just might be too far out there for me to handle. I don't predict that Wilfred will have a long life on tv. Even though it might have been a huge success in Australia. I don't think it works. When the dog does nice things I'm loving it but when he fucks things up so badly and usually on purpose, I just want to strangle him. I'm not sure that I'll continue watching Wilfred.

And to end this I'll mention two movies I've watched recently and they are Paul and X-Men: First Class. I didn't like either of them. Paul was just NOT funny and X-Men just didn't make any sense and was so loopy and had huge plot-holes. I'm assuming it went through massive editing that just murdered the movie. I did not enjoying at all.

And that's it folks! Longest post I've made in a while! Done with tv rambling for now. And that was just about "new" stuff. I'm not mentioning other things like Pretty Little Liars (LOVE IT!) or True Blood (WTF is going on?) or Top Gear (FAVORITE!) or how incredibly frickin' excited I am about Breaking Bad starting again tonight (asdfghjkl!!).

What is the story behind your LJ username?

I so often wonder how y'all came up with the names you chose so please tell me the story!

Mine is quite simple. I worked with this French girl in Denmark back in 2002 who's name was Veronique. She was so sweet and adorable and I really liked her. She had an email address that was something like kausete@ whatever it was and she said it was from her favorite story Les Misérables, a variation of the name Cosette and I really liked the sound of it.

So when it came to me creating my LJ early 2003 I was brainstorming for name ideas with irda and that came up and in the end we went with Causette because I liked the way it looked. I wanted something that you could easily pronounce and I didn't want anything that related to my real name and nothing with numbers in it.

So there's that story now tell me yours :)

ps. I just went to pick an icon for this post and saw I only have 6!!! lol. My paid account expired a couple of weeks ago and since my layout didn't really change, I didn't bother renewing it. But I hadn't realized I'd get so few icons. oh gosh I haven't had this few icons in years. Bummer! I wonder why those specific six icons where chosen to remain.

Hi guys! So I really could use your help with my dissertation topic!! So if you could please answer this super short poll I have here below, I would really appreciate it.

So my vague topic of my dissertation is going to be about how there's a new era of Information Overload with the use of Smartphones and Social Networks. You know how in the early 2000 there was all this talk about Information Overload and how people couldn't handle all the information they had access to and so on and so on. Well, my hypothesis is that we are entering a new era of different type of Information Overload with the use of Smartphones and being constantly connected to the Internet. And specifically looking at Facebook and Twitter and how people use those on their phones.

So yeah, that's kinda my idea but it's still in it's labor stage and I'm trying to get a clearer view on what it is that I want to research and that's why I need your help because I know I have people on my friendslist who do use Facebook and Twitter on their phones so I'd like to get some idea of how you'd answer this poll.

And if you have anything further to say on this subject, please drop me a comment! I'd love to hear your views and ideas on this subject!

I am so frickin excited about Survivor being back on! I had no idea it was coming back so soon, the previous season only finished late December!

But yay! It's back and I couldn't believe the little surprise they had in the first episode! ASDFG!! This show just never fails to entertain. Always new people, new alliances, new challenges, new locations... and totally new drama! :D Eeeee!!

And also very excited about American Idol being back. I love Hollywood Week :D I don't have a favorite yet but I'll probably chose one or two from those that get through Hollywood Week. Haven't spotted anyone either who I think will probably win. But we'll see.

In real-life news, I went to this apparently "proper" Mexican restaurant here in London last night. Well, the restaurant was on the ground floor but then there was the basement were we went and that was just a shady bar with disco lights and taco's for a pound and Corona for 2.5 pounds. It was a lot of fun and I ate a lot. But I totally had the runs this morning. I blame the proper Mexican!

And now I'm thinking about going to Starbucks for some breakfast and maybe some studying :)

So I downloaded this movie the other day, The Resident (2011) because it has Jeffery Dean Morgan in it and he trumps my hatred for Hillary Swank.

Then last night I was looking through my movie folder to watch something and I picked The Resident but since I knew nothing about it other than it was similar to Single White Female, which I had seen before, I decided to check out the trailer first on Youtube.

And holy mother of GOD!! I definitely did NOT watch that movie after seeing the trailer. It scared the living shit out off me! The trailer! It scared me so much that I had problems falling asleep last night and I never have problems sleeping after seeing scary movies. The part that really freaked me out was when she saw how many videos had been recorded and just the thought of that... of being alone with some creeper like that (no matter how hot JDM is!). Maybe it scared me so much because I'm a single woman living alone. Well, almost alone, I do share a flat with 7 others! hehe. But still. This is much more scarier to me than ghosts or demons or vampires because it's just so real and close to home!

Hey there good people! I have a question!

Can anyone who's been to Paris recommend me a hotel or a bed & breakfast? I'm going there early June with my mom for three nights so a hostel is out of the way. We're taking the Eurostar from London and I'm so excited! I've been to France before but never Paris :D

In other news, this past month I've been watching The O.C. I only saw the first two seasons when the show was airing on TV and then for some reason I stopped watching it. Well when I was home for Christmas I caught one old episode from season 2 on the tv and thought it might be fun to watch the whole whole thing starting from the beginning because it had been so long.

Well, I just finished watching the last episode (4.16) yesterday and just... WOW! What an amazing show! I can't express how much I enjoyed watching The O.C. again. And seeing all the stuff I had never seen was so much fun! I cried while watching the last episode, not because the ep was particularly sad like some episodes were but just because it was such an ending. I wanted more! Especially since I think that season 4 (which sadly was only half a season) was probably my favorite.

Although my favorite part of season 3 was definitely Cam Gigandet! Holy smokes! That guy is hooooooot! Like, I knew he was hot and all (not from Twilight because he was not hot there) but from movies like Never Back Down. He was so hot in The O.C. And then I downloaded Burlesque just because of him and he was amazing in that movie and totally made it worth watching!

But back to The O.C., I think in the end, Ryan was my favorite character. I remember when I first saw the show, Seth was my favorite. But Ryan really grew on me and I loved it when he was not brooding and sulking and he had some very fun moments there, especially in season 4, even though the season started on such a tragic event (no spoilers here!).

Now I'm so sad that I'm finished with The O.C. and I feel like I need a new (old) show to watch now. It's nice to have loads of episodes to watch whenever I feel like it. I just don't really know what I can watch. I need to find some old show that has at least three seasons that I haven't watched before. But most of the shows I haven't watched is because I'm not interested in them or blatantly refuse to watch on some principle reasons *cough*Dr. Who*cough*

Any recommendations? Can't have anything to do with outer space or take place over 20 years ago or more.

Oh and don't forget those hotel recommendations in Paris!!
