Mobilising the real estate industry to decarbonise 

The built environment is one of the largest contributors to global carbon emissions, carrying with it a huge responsibility to play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future. Recognising that no single organisation can tackle this challenge alone, ULI’s C Change programme is mobilising the industry to decarbonise by co-creating scalable solutions that drive systemic change.

Creating Impact

Our solutions-focussed approach

Our four-step approach aims to create solutions to accelerate the decarbonisation of the European real estate industry.

STEP 1

Identify the barriers

We survey the landscape and work with industry practitioners, professionals, and leaders to identify the biggest barriers to progress and help transform them into actionable interventions that businesses can apply to support their decarbonisation journey.

STEP 2

Prime the industry

We develop a deep understanding of why the barriers exist through interviews, surveys, workshops and round-table discussions. We deliver research publications, tools, and event programmes to prime industry leaders and professionals on the next critical issues.

STEP 3

Incubate ideas

We co-create and incubate solutions to systemic barriers in collaboration with industry practitioners, ensuring that the programme's outputs are ppractical and workable.

STEP 4

Scale solutions

To maximise the impact of the C Change programme, we plan for industry-wide adaptation of solutions. Each C Change output is designed to achieve critical mass for implementation, supported by practical tools, case studies, and collaboration with other industry bodies.

Tackling systemic barriers

We identified 13 system interventions that have the potential to drive industry-wide change. C Change is currently developing solutions for five intervention areas where ULI, in collaboration with its partners and supporters, is uniquely positioned to make the greatest impact.
