Title: Kimo- Reruns
each afternoon brings me to the same place;
apprehensive and aware
I’ve no more patience left

Title: Baby Girl
born unbranded, but impure,
for all decisions made prior
to the arrival were poorly thought
OUT
into the world; a bubble first,
drop-feeding foolish milk,
a cage to grow
OUT
of in size and might
a room with a lock to pick at
with mysteries unsolved
unable to step
OUT
come fantastic stories
of wilderness and nails
with ragged edge

Title: Honket- Surely Gone Bad
After much deliberation
I set out to make a cup of coffee,
instead drinking dissatisfaction
empty-handed, without trophy.
By afternoon, I’d already won an award:
been crowned queen of the pyramids
by the administrators of the board;
now to decide how valid the decision is.
Squinting eyes stuck to the keyboard,
thinking in patterns, typing in straight lines.
No one else is looking or updating the scoreboard;
to create a form and to convey feeling from divine signs
is harder to keep up when the milk goes sour;
to maintain shape and structure’s now out of my confines,
expecting a close escape in the midnight hour:
as the clock strikes twelve, so will inspiration
by then, prepared to do all it takes to discover power.
NB A Honket is a never-used before poetic form with seventeen lines usually with a coffee theme.

(I end this challenge late but on what I feel is a playful high. Events and challenges welcome us to step out of comfort zones and to have fun our precious words. Safe and samey? Oh no!
To those to have read my 2017 contribution to April Poetry Challenge Month: thank you! x)
