one, already

Mmmm…. birthdays mean cake!
claire eats cake
This babe of ours has been around for a whole entire year.  Just as I have gotten used to the idea of having a baby around, she has turned into a toddler.
Miss Claire has two teeth, nearly mastered walking, unruly hair, squawks when demanding attention, waves bye bye, gives kisses, and is doted on by everyone in our little family.

Halloween ‘12

hallow collage
Gabriel as Captain America.  He was able to choose from his ample selection of super-heroes.  The Capt’n was the day’s fave.
Paige the nerd.  It’s a must to match up with the BFF and they put it all together themselves.  If you ask me, though, she didn’t quite pull it off. *Wink*
Taylor ???  Dwight Schrute did something similar on The Office and Tay went with it.  This is the year Taylor SWEARS is his last for Trick-or-Treating!  (It’s kinda hard to pass up free candy)
Claire, sporting her best ‘lil pumpkin for her first Halloween.  I could eat her up!
Todd, in the garbage can, giving out tricks (mostly to those crazy teens that didn’t even attempt a costume).

growing

kids superstition merge final color

There was a bare spot on the wall that needed a picture of all four of my kiddos together.  So we loaded them up on a Sunday afternoon and headed for the Superstition Mountains.  It’s just so desert-y and Arizona.
Ahhh… I love them.

*Side note*  Did a little number crunching the other day and realized that Taylor will be graduated from high school before Claire even starts kindergarten.  HA! That’s crazy.

wonder

IMG_1630-001

I wanted to post this picture because it just makes my day! For a little background, his teachers give him a visual prompt for his vocabulary words each week -it helps him to understand the word and it's easier to remember it visually. I hadn’t even realized they had been doing this at school until this week. While we were practicing, he was a particular ham and demonstrated each gesture with his words. It was hilarious to watch.

This pose is “wonder”. With a side of silly and accentuated with his sister’s “nerd” glasses.

This kid is a crack up and just growing and growing. There’s so much to write about this boy, and I will when I have more time to gather my thoughts. Couldn’t you just squeeze him?!

sweet baby

claire baby pics by kami1

We had a little photo session with Aunt Kami when ‘Lil Miss was just a sleepy 10 days old. I love how they turned out!

It would appear that our little dear inherited her mommy’s chin, nose, and unintentional scowl. Daddy is sure to turn up in there somewhere.

Thanks Kami!

empathy

doc visit

Along with so many, we’ve been hit with the flu – among other things.

This visit was Paige’s turn. Gabriel has been there before.

watch me now

This took place a couple weeks ago.  Most of my family has seen it via Facebook, but I think it’s so much fun I wanted to include it here, too.

It’s even better if you can make the picture bigger.   [Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui8Fuqg5Sx8]

He is clearly:

* one to enjoy the spotlight.

* a better dancer than both his mother and father combined.

* oblivious to the fact that he shouldn’t be in the middle of the court.

* familiar with MJ.

I was/am:

* amused and delighted.

* impressed by his moves and ability to stay on beat.

* happy for a tolerant staff who didn’t seem to mind the boy taking over the halftime show.

* grateful for the crowd’s enthusiastic response.  He received about a dozen high fives and “good job”s afterwards.

I could watch this a thousand times.

never say never

I’ve held strong for 15 years of marriage – no dogs. [Okay, there was a very brief stint when Taylor was just a baby that we got a Cocker Spaniel. She had recurring ticks which only strengthened my resolve not to have animals in my home. ] I don’t hate them, I just don’t desire to have one either.

When Gabriel was a baby, we told the kids that when he was older – maybe 3 years old – we’d consider a dog.

Wow! Those 3 years flew by and then some!

I held strong though.

This year Paige has made her love for dogs known. All the kids love dogs and have mentioned wanting one. But Paige, she’s a die hard. She’s the only one I know that can merely see a leash and exclaim, “Awwww!” In that pitchy way usually reserved for babies.

Anyway, long story short, the girl wore me down.

Meet Ivy. The newest member of the Cederstrom clan. Merry Christmas!

my three haunters

halloween

Corpse Bride… Uno Amigo… The Fearsome Pirate. Halloween 2010. Paigey never broke character with a smile, Taylor was rarely seen, and Gabriel laughed every time he looked at his beard and moustache in the mirror. Man, I know how to work some magic with the eyebrow pencil.

I kinda miss blogging about these three. I have a whole summer’s worth of activities I could catch up on… it’s been busy. Hopefully the 2 people that still check this thing don’t mind if I play catch up for a while.

retro baker

fam pics _ daddy daughter

Paigey was handed down a friend’s Easy-Bake oven, and she’s in heaven. She just wants to bake, bake, bake. She’s even making up excuses to bake for her older brother.

The personal size brownies, blondies and cookies are the best thing ever – at least according to our aspiring Betty Crocker.
