Services
The WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED) has a variety of program offerings to help individuals with disabilities be as independent as possible in their own communities. Most programs work with individuals outside of the medical setting to help ensure that they are able to participate fully in their lives. Programs often work together to provide coordinated services to individuals and families.

Assistive Technology Evaluation
Offers assistive technology (AT) evaluations for individuals of all ages, provides AT demonstrations and training, and helps troubleshoot current devices.
Communication Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT)
Offers augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) consultations and training for individuals of all ages. Works closely with individuals, caregivers and other professionals to enhance access to communication.
Country Roads
Prepares students with intellectual and developmental disabilities for independence by providing program-related academic courses, social engagement and real-world work experiences.
Disability Employment
Works one-on-one with individuals with disabilities to help them prepare for employment and find the right job. Offers technical assistance on disability-related labor issues.
Disability Resource Library
Provides over 5,000 free-to-borrow educational and resource materials for individuals with disabilities, family members and practitioners.
Family to Family (F2F) and Paths for Parents (P4P)
Provides peer-to-peer support, connections to resources, support groups, workshops and other opportunities through parent mentoring programs.
Feeding & Swallowing
Provides multidisciplinary feeding assessments and service coordination for children aged birth to 18 years who are experiencing feeding difficulties.
IMPACT WV
Provides services for families and providers to create opportunities and address the needs of children diagnosed with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) or who were exposed to substances in utero.
Mental Health Services
Supports individuals to increase their well-being, exercise choices and seek resources to support their mental health status. Services include individual and group counseling, training and consultation.
Mentoring and Oversight for Developing Independence with Foster Youth (MODIFY)
Provides educational services and supports to eligible former foster youth and those aging out of the foster care system as they transition into adult independent living.
Pediatric and Adolescent Occupational Therapy
Supports children and adolescents ages 1-19 who are experiencing developmental challenges that affect motor skills, cognition, vision and perception, self-care, play, sensory processing, and/or participation with peers in school or with activities.
Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
Uses evidence-based strategies to improve quality of life and decrease challenging behaviors.
Regional Transition Navigator Services (RTNS)
Provides information, training, resources and services to at-risk youth and young adults ages 14-25.
Specialized Family Care (SFC)
Helps connect children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to families who are willing to open their homes and hearts to them.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Provides services and supports to persons with a TBI through patient navigation and resource coordination.
West Virginia Assistive Technology System (WVATS)
Provides device demonstrations and support for assistive technology (AT) to help individuals with disabilities be more independent.
WVU Department of Disability Studies
Offers undergraduate, graduate and professional students opportunities to earn a minor, certificate, or micro-credential badges in Disability Studies.
WV LEND
Provides interdisciplinary training to prepare students, individuals with lived disability experience, community members, and families to be leaders in the fields of disability education, research, leadership, advocacy, policy, and rural health.
