Introducing Professor Viji Sathy as CFE’s Interim Director!
The CFE team is delighted to welcome Professor Viji Sathy as its new Interim Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence. In this new role, Professor Sathy will support overseeing the CFE team and its work in the development, delivery, and assessment of the Center’s programs and offerings, helping expand the Center’s reach and impact across campus as the CFE integrates into the Office of Faculty Affairs.
Professor Sathy is an outstanding fit for this role. She brings impressive and relevant experience in all areas of the CFE’s work. As Professor of the Practice in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Professor Sathy is renowned and nationally-recognized as an educator and for instructional innovation and expertise. Her role as Academic Leadership Program Director at the Institute for the Arts & Humanities has prepared her well for supporting the CFE’s faculty leadership development initiatives.
Professor Sathy also brings experience in mentor training development through her work with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER). Her experience as Associate Dean for Evaluation and Assessment and Director of the Townsend Program for Education Research educational program development and assessment and background in psychometrics (Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill, 2003) adds further to evidence-based teaching and to measuring program impact.
Professor Sathy has also served as a faculty champion as member of UNC’s Faculty Executive Committee in the Office of Faculty Governance and many other areas.
