It looks like we don't have a page for "dog fooding" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "dog fooding is ____", a sentence describing the term)

dogfood in the context of the IndieWeb was used to refer the software practice of metaphorically “eating your own dog food” in particular with using your own creations on your own personal site that you depend on, day to day, however the IndieWeb community prefers to instead use the metaphor “eat what you cook” for this encouragement https://indieweb.org/dog_fooding

🍽 eat what you cook (or eating what you cook, or eating your own cooking) is a metaphor for the IndieWeb principle “use what you make”, encouraging creators to consume what they create, in particular on their personal website, and a more palatable replacement for the selfdogfood metaphor https://indieweb.org/eat_what_you_cook

use what you make is an IndieWeb principle that encourages creators to use the applications, tools, libraries, code, designs, documentation that they create, in particular on their personal website, and the counterpart of the make what you need principle https://indieweb.org/use_what_you_make

I prefer `www.` prefix to balance out the `.com` suffix. Obviously, I have the root domain redirecting so both work for the user!

On my Mastodon feed, there's a lot of posts I saw recently about a new RSS reader called Current. Anyone tried it? https://www.terrygodier.com/current

The RSS Atom wars (or syndication wars) were a toxic plumbing debate about the merits of using Atom vs RSS that dragged in and distracted numerous high level web technologists from 2003-2007 while social silos (Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, etc.) emerged, rapidly innovated UX, and thus gained popular adoption https://indieweb.org/Atom_vs_RSS

I’ve tried Current and think it has a lot of good ideas. Also working on my own new feed reader. I think we’re going to see a lot of new RSS things this year. 🙂

Ooh, any chance yours will be web native, rather than an app? I'd like to check out Current but it's Apple only, which is a real shame
