CheckWatt’s partner company installs a CM10, a physical device that connects to your battery system, energy meters, and the internet. It takes about an hour for an electrician to complete the installation.
Within a few days, the system is configured and tested by CheckWatt or your installer to ensure everything is working as it should.
The system is connected to our virtual power plant. CheckWatt takes over control of the system and optimizes charging and discharging with the aim of maximizing profitability. The system starts generating revenue.

This compares revenues for a 10 kW / 10 kWh battery system under different control strategies from January to June 2025.
One scenario uses CheckWatt to deliver ancillary services in combination with solar self-consumption and energy price arbitrage (charging at low prices, discharging at high) within a limited charge span. The other uses the full capacity to do solar self-consumption and electricity price arbitrage, which is often built-in functionality in a battery system. CheckWatt revenues are shown after percentage fees and bidding margins have been deducted.
For the value of saving solar electricity and electricity price arbitrage, we have assumed average grid charges, tax reduction and grid benefit, and that the customer has an hourly price contract. However, no account has been taken of any impact fees. In this case, we have modeled the compensation in electricity area 3 (SE3) and in Finland. In bidding zones 1 (SE1) and 2 (SE2), the added value of CheckWatt’s control is higher because electricity prices are lower and less volatile, resulting in lower savings from electricity price arbitrage. In the south of Sweden, in SE4, electricity prices are higher and more volatile, which increases the value of electricity price arbitrage. However, the added value of control via CheckWatt is still significant.
