Caring for children Supporting families Enriching care
At The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity, our mission is to provide the best possible treatment and support for children and young people, and their families, facing a cancer diagnosis or complex blood disorder.
Our Story
What We Do
The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity supports the work of the Unit, helping to fund vital resources, staff and specialised care, equipment and infrastructure and contributing to research and a range of family support services to support children and young people living with cancer and their families throughout Northern Ireland.
About The Unit
The Children’s Cancer Unit is based in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and every child in Northern Ireland who receives a cancer or complex blood disorder diagnosis will be treated here, regardless of where they come from.
Get Involved
We rely solely on donations in order to operate our services and support children and young people facing a cancer diagnosis, and their families. You can get involved today by fundraising, volunteering or making a donation.
Your Support Means A Lot
- £15 will purchase a welcome backpack for a child.
- £30 will fund a session with a member of the Play Specialist team.
- £100 will allow a child to access the necessary equipment required for our school robotics programme.

What our friends and supporters say
Read examples of how our supporters get involved and the impact this makes, whether it’s an individual running their own fundraising events, a corporate organisation choosing us as their charity partner or a family giving back after their personal experience of childhood cancer.
“Bringing therapeutic play to the patients is amazing, but especially at the weekend, where the children can relax and have some fun on the ward. This is all thanks to the Children’s Cancer Unit Charity who have funded my post. The charity does so much good work, whether that is helping families with some financial support, or putting on Domino's pizza parties every Tuesday to put a smile on everyone's face. The Unit wouldn't be the same without their support.”
“We wanted to partner with a charity that matched the ideals and philosophy of Aflac as a whole. It’s hugely important to our team to support a cause that means so much to the company- it really helps with staff engagement and adds to the spirit and culture within the company. We’re a competitive bunch at Aflac so it’s hugely rewarding that we can take all that energy and motivation from the team and channel that towards The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity and the work that they do.”
“We chose to fundraise for The CCUC after our daughter Emily was diagnosed with Leukaemia in August 2023. Seeing first- hand the difference the charity makes is an eye opener and if anything was to come from Emily’s diagnosis, it is how appreciative we are that charities like this exist. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to give back to those who’ve been on this journey with us, which includes the incredible kids we’ve met along the way and will meet in the future.”
“It was important for us to partner with a charity that helps support local families and makes a real impact, and The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity does exactly that. They not only support children in Northern Ireland facing a cancer diagnosis but also their siblings and parents, who can often be overlooked whilst they are experiencing one of the scariest times in their lives. Our staff look forward to our company-supported volunteer days, where they can attend events, meet with the families and witness the direct impact of the charity’s efforts.”
