Hello. Image

I'm having a very, very bad day today.
It's been a tough time.
In early January I was still hopeful that my leg would heal up soon and that I could go back to dancing and hiking soon.

It's been 6 weeks now with no improvement at all.
On the contrary, since my last physical therapy it has gotten to the worst point thus far.

Nobody knows what I have. The MRI scan didn't show anything, so it's not a major injury like no bone issue, no tendon or muscle rupture ..... but it's just not going away.
The first idea of the orthopedist back in early January was that I have a muscle strain, but these usually only hurt for 3-5 days and then you can slowly start using your muscle again and after 6 weeks it should be completely healed.

The physical therapist did some hectic movements to loosen up my foot, but couldn't loosen it at all.
And he also did some heavy strength building exercises with me.

The next day it was really painful to walk, especially when I try to stand up straight without bending my knee at all. It's the upper part of my calf this time. It used to be the middle part thus far.

I don't know if whatever he did caused another strained muscle or if it triggered the previous one as it wasn't all healed up yet.

As I have so much time on my hands right now as I can't do shit with my stupid leg, I finally got around to read up on anti-aging. Plus my skin is really at its worst right now. I never had major issues with pimples, but since last October my skin is so bad! I still don't think it's acne, but it's bad! So, I ordered quite a few things, most of them still need to get delivered and thus are not shown on the photo and I surely will not start using them all at once, but slowly implement them into my routine, but I got a retinol serum, niaciamid serum, vitamin C serum a hopefully good sunscreen without too many bad ingredients and also a BHA foliation thingie as well as a BHA / AHA toner that I will use every now and then. Let's see if any of these can actually help.

I generally like gold eye patches. I don't even know why but I feel they do help a little with puffiness and they just feel good to use in the morning. :)

Image

I also got back into drinking matcha (here placed on my Go board in the office). I'm not yet back to drinking it on a daily basis, but we'll see.... :)

I hope you're in a better place than I am and wish you all a great weekend!

Hello everyone! Image

It's been a while.
No post since end of May...... Image

Life has been utterly busy (mostly in a good way) and there's simply no way that I keep updating LJ the way I did.
I'm not disappearing, but I also won't promise that I'll post regularly because I know I probably won't.

Instead, I just want to drop a review of 2022.

Countries I've visited this year (the ones in bold are the ones I've never been to before):

  • Austria

  • Czech Republic

  • France (Paris)

  • Gibraltar

  • Italy

  • Liechtenstein

  • Luxemburg

  • Slovenia

  • Spain (Andalusia)

Ok, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein and Gibraltar are really small, but they do count. ;)

I'll share a few more photos here, but if you want to see photos of my trips, it's probably better to follow me on Instagram as this is the only place where I'm still active.

Paris July 2022:

Image

This needs no further introduction. ;)

Image

I actually was on Eiffel Tower for sunset without planning it and without a prior ticket purchase. I was so lucky!
And I also got to see a sunset behind Eiffel Tower on another day. Couldn't have asked for more. :)

Slovenia September 2022:

This again was a very spontaneous trip with not much prior planning. Eventually, I just hopped into my car and drove there. :)

Image

Lake Bled - always wanted to visit and it's really as beautiful as shown on all the photos!

Andalusia Nov / Dec 2022:

High Garden (Game of Thrones) - near Cordoba. ;)
One of my absolute highlights of the trip!

Somehow this looks like a lot, but it surely doesn't feel like I did a lot this year....
I definitely went less hiking than the years before .... oh well, hopefully next year will be a good travel year as well! :)

I hope you're all doing well. Image
It feels like LJ has become a rather abandoned place?
Where are you guys most active these days?

I'm still reading and sometimes commenting here on LJ, but again ... I don't have that much time .....
Though, I really love browsing through my old entries. It's really like a diary and I wish I could keep up with it, but .... it's so time-consuming. :(
Thanks for understanding. :)

Hello Image

On Easter Sunday, after searching for eggs Image, I went on a short hike.
Luckily the weather was good. Weekends with good weather are so rare recently, I feel like I'm going insane as I haven't been hiking since Easter!!!

Image

The Senkele Höhenweg is a really nice and easy trail from where you have stunning fews onto Lake Forggensee and also the famous castles nearby, the most famous being Castle Newswanstone (Neuschwanstein).
The highest mountain you can see there is called "Säuling". I still have to hike that one. :D

Image

On Easter Monday I went to Hündlekopf (1111 m) which is already quite a nice hike as is, but .....

Still, I decided to go the entire tour as planned, also to really nice waterfalls:

Image

The Buchenegger Waterfalls are famous in the region and in summer you can jump in to cool yourself off. ;)

And those were my Easter adventures.
Hope you enjoyed these hiking photos. Image

Hello. Image

As mentioned in the previous entry, I dared to leave Prague on 2 days to explore some further away sights as well.

Image

One of them was Karlstein Castle.
The train ride is really cheap and takes less than 1 hour. The landscape you get to see during the train ride is also lovely!

The castle is truly impressive.
I'm a huge castle fan, so I just had to go.
At the castle I found a poster promoting other nearby castles but this one was by far the best one, so yay! Image

But the actual highlight is probably the so-called "Church of Bones" (Sedlec Ossuary).

The ossuary is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people, whose bones have, in many cases, been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.

Image

But the views from up there were stunning! What a beautiful little town!

If you're interested in cathedrals, beautiful old town centers or even just that awesome church of bones, I'd highly recommend you'd do a day trip to Kutna Hora from Prague if you have enough time. ;)

Hope you enjoyed the photos! ImageImage

Hi! Image

I can finally add another country to my list: Czech Republic! Image
So many people have told me how beautiful Prague City is so I always wanted to go.

Finally I had a chance to! Image
And it's not that difficult to go there.
There's actually a direct (!!!) train from Munich to Prague and it only costs 37 € one way!
Of course, you could also go by car but with the current gasoline prices .........................

The train ride takes about 5:30 h, but usually there are delays, so we weren't under 6h for both train rides.
I just kept watching "Inventing Anna" on Netflix on my phone which I had downloaded beforehand. Image
And because I wasn't alone we also played games or just talked.

There will be 3 entries in total.
I didn't stay in Prague the entire time. As we had 3,5 days for sightseeing, I also left Prague for 2 daytrips and those I'll share in separate entries.

In this entry I'll just share the impressions from Prague.

photos aheadCollapse )

Image

My next stop was the Strahov Library in a monastery. Really impressive.
You aren't allowed to enter, you can only take photos from the outside and you have to pay extra to take photos!

In Prague they don't use Euro, but have Czeck koruna. But luckily we could pay pretty much everywhere by credit card.
The only time you needed coins was for toilets and luckily most of the time (at least in Prague) they took Euro as well for that.

Image

Next I headed to Prague Castle, probably the main sightseeing spot.
Next to the entrance is probably one of the coolest Starbucks with such a great view over Prague!

Country travel list (which is still super tiny....):
  • Austria

  • Czech Republic

  • Greece

  • France

  • Ireland

  • Italy

  • Japan (*most travelled country for me)

  • Malta

  • Spain

  • The Netherlands

  • UK (Wales, Scotland, England, Northern Ireland)

(*I've been in Switzerland, but not for travelling, I think, so I don't count it.)

I hope you enjoyed the photos! Image

Hullo again! Image

So, as mentioned before there was a weekend with good weather, so I was out and about again.
Unlike Saturday it was more crowded on the streets, but again no problem to find a (paid) parking lot this time.

Image

I went to Tegernsee again. You'd think it gets boring, but as there are so many things to explore and so many mountains to hike around this lake, this was surely not my last time there. ;)
And it is a lovely region after all. :)

more photosCollapse )

Image

The view from there is really stunning and I loved it.
You don't have to work a lot to get up there and enjoy this view.

Note the color of the grass. It's so dry as obviously we didn't get enough rain.
You'd think that all that melting snow would do the trick, but nope ...

Hello. Image

I said it would be tough to catch up with entries.
That's because I went hiking on both days 2 weekends ago.
Last weekend I went to Prague (4 days) and this weekend is the best weather this year, absolutely stunning and I was planning being in the mountains ....

However, that's not gonna happen.

In Prague they basically have no rules apart from wearing a mask inside of public transport. And even there people didn't bother much.
The results? From the 4 people that went:

Person 1: got Delta
Person 2: got Omicron
Person 3: got a cold (that's me) - already had Covid
Person 4: perfectly fit - already had Covid

Go figure ......

I'm so sad that I cannot make any use of this absolutely awesome weather, especially because they're forecasting snow for April. *sigh*
But it is what it is ................... so instead I'm catching up with photo entries .... Image

2 weekends ago the weather was nice, but still very cold.
Needless to say that I was out and about again.

Image

As you can see there was still snow on the trails. I couldn't use my hiking shoes (not suited for snow / wet underground).

The view into the valley was so lovely.

Hello again!

A friend of mine told me 2 weekends ago when I met her in person that she had caught Covid around the same time as me.
She's the exact same age, but unlike me she already got her booster a few weeks prior to getting sick.

And while my symptoms weren't really bad and it seems I have no long Covid symptoms thankfully, she struggled a lot.
When we met it was her 3rd week of being on sick leave.
She told me she still has to nap every noon to keep her energy levels up and circling that lake with me (around 6 km) was really tough for her. Image

It's so scary to see how this virus is like a lottery. Image
It doesn't matter how old or young you are.
It doesn't matter how sporty you are or if you have any chronical diseases.
It doesn't matter if you have been vaccinated and if so how many shots you got.

At least that's the impression I recently get.
I just hope she'll fully recover soon.
But she was happy to do this little excursion with me and I'm sure the exercise and fresh air was good for her. Image

Image

The lake itself is really beautiful and in summer you can swim there.

Image

That's what the lake looks from above and you can see the mountains in the background as well as the restaurant where we sat.

Ahhh~ I miss my home region. It's just so beautiful and there's ALWAYS something beautiful nearby to explore without having to be stuck in traffic jam like when I try to go anywhere here on the weekends ....

Hope you enjoyed the photos! Image
