| Feb. 2nd, 2005 01:00 am Citizen Kane So I watched Citizen Kane tonight.
People have called it a work of art. They even put it on number 11 of the 250 greatest films on IMDb's list.
The movie is good. It's engaging. It employs a lot of the cinematic tricks we're used to today. Which is all the more interesting since this movie came out in 1941, which means that today's movies must have borrowed a lot from this movie.
Well, cinematic tricks does not a good movie make. Like I said, the movie (plot/story) is engaging and interesting. The plot moves forward at a steady pace and not one shot is wasted in this movie. Everything is done in furtherance of the plot. It's so rare to see this in movies now a days.
I do no hesitate in giving this movie five out of six stars! Why not six? Well, some of the shots seem a little contrived, even though this movie pioneered these kinds of shots. It's just trying too hard sometimes. Leave a comment

| Dec. 22nd, 2004 03:35 pm Sleigh bells are a-leaping or something ...
Anyway, I'm going on holiday in a few hours. I'm going to spend it with my brother and father at the most east-ward point (almost) in the country.
It's a little island called Bornholm, and it's in the middle of the forest, and my brother just called saying they have a big snow storm there right now. Yay!
I bought the very last of my Christmas presents today and now I'm just chilling out. Very nice.
Not much has actually happened in my life since the last time I wrote, so I'm not going to bore you with that.
I'll just wish you all a very happy holiday, (whatever your denomination and/or political orientation may be) peace on Earth, and to all a good night! (no, wait ...)
See ya!

| Nov. 23rd, 2004 11:45 pm I think I forgot to say ... I passed my Computer Science-education thingy last Wednesday!
I'm going to the graduation on Friday, and afterwards my aunt and uncle has invited the whole(!) family over to their place to celebrate little ol' me! Yay!
I'm relieved it's all over, it was a tough 2½ years, but now it's finally over and I can look back at an accomplishment that I can be proud of, but also one that will increase my chances of getting a job in the future!
So that is very very cool.
How have y'all been doing? 3 comments - Leave a comment

| Nov. 4th, 2004 08:57 pm kaboooom! A fireworks factory blew up here in Denmark.
A news story here, and a movie(right-click and 'Save-As') here. The movie is taken from Danish TV and requires a DIVX-codec, but it's pretty awesome.
Only one person (a firefighter) got killed, but two thousand people had to be evacuated from the immediate area. Leave a comment

| Sep. 29th, 2004 10:35 pm jobs I sent out my first job application last week. The dean receives job offers from companies, and then he mails them to us. Kinda like a pimp, but nicer ...
Like I said, I replied to one of them and I got a positive answer back. I'll be called into an interview when they finish with the current round of applications.
At least, that's what they said to me.
But, how are you? Current Mood: chipper Current Music: Tina Dico - Break of Day

| Sep. 27th, 2004 09:10 am marathon man So, I've decided that I want to complete a marathon before I'm thirty.
There. I said it and now I can't take it back.
"But why?", I hear in your agonized screams. Well, I read an article in the newspaper about some old guy (he's 62) that decided to run a marathon before he was 50 and he did it, so why shouldn't I be able to? I have a year and a half (give or take) to get into shape.
Besides, it'll give me something to do. Yay! Current Mood: determined
