Baby boy is here!!!

It was just another weekend at the in-laws in Oroville. We were celebrating Lil's 9th bday (Happy birthday!!!) and my mother-in-law's retirement, plus Dave and his Dad and Chris were putting the engine back in the Camaro they've been working on. My c-section wasn't scheduled for another 3 weeks.

So when I peed my pants after going to the bathroom at 1:30 am, I was annoyed with myself and in a daze. When I felt a huge gush after that I realized my water broke!! Whoohoo! I was SO ready! So I walked out to Dave and Jeff still up playing "Battlefield" (they thought I was coming to tell them to go to bed!) I said, "Dave, I think my water broke". After a pause and another gush I said, " I know it did!!" then the excitement and happiness ensued! Everyone was out of bed , except the kids, and we were just blown away! My father in law and Dave gave me a blessing and we were off to the little hospital there in Oroville! No baby clothes, no video camera, no camera, none of my stuff!! And the fact that I wasn't at my hospital near my house with my doctors was very unnerving.

By amazing luck, we got the best doctor and anestethiologist in the area! I was on monitors and the baby was stable until 6 when the doctor came in. He could've come in sooner if there was a problem. Also because the hospital is so small, I was the only mom in there. I had the attention of everyone there for the first 2 days! The nurses were amazing.

So by 7:46 after a thankfully uneventful surgery, my sweet baby boy was born healthy and pink. He was born at 36 weeks and 4 days weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Could you imagine how big he'd be at full term!! So far he has been the sleepiest, snuggliest little soft baby ever. I love these precious moments at home and that Dave is home with me all week. I am also so glad he was born in Oroville because they had a paradise of fun and grandparent's and Jeff and Steph there to take care of them. I was able to relax and Dave was with me so much in the hospital. Jeff and Steph drove back out to our house to get our at seat and supplies! We are super happy to have our baby boy Rockwell Jake.

This weekend's project

This weekend, Dave and I about died of fatigued, but our bathroom looks amazing! I've wanted to hang a chandelier there ever since we moved in, but it has been pushed down the priority list. One- because it was electrical and Dave and I were afraid of that a few years ago. (he has since done a lot of electrical work on our house). Two- because no one but us usually sees the bathroom or uses it. But it was time. We also wanted to take out the massive flourescent lighting fixture and replace it with two modern ones and might as well paint the cabinets in our bathroom and the kids at the same time! Oh, and put a frame around the mirror too! (which was the easiest and fastest thing we did) It was a lot to undertake and I am feeling horrible with this pregnancy (only 3 weeks to go!) but we wanted to do this before the baby is born.

Look at those beautiful lights!!! The mirror was removed in order for Dave to put in an electrical box behind it to split the wires. I was painting the cabinets doors. Check out the awesome chandelier!

ImageThe finished product! We painted the cabinets, the kids actually screwed in all of the hardware themselves and Dave mounted the cabinets after. They were amazing helpers all day long and deserved the "Sonic the Hedgehog" game play and Little Ceasars that was for dinner after all the work was done.

ImageDoesn't the frame around the mirror look nice?

I love the chandelier!!! After a crazy weekend of destruction/construction and trips to Lowe's, I cleaned up the inside of the house for a few hours while Dave and the kids cleaned up the yard! Phew! We were so glad to be done and absolutely love the results. Now we can have our baby. :)

28 Days!

Image
So, the baby is a month away! I went in to my OB this morning and confirmed what I pretty much know for a fact....my baby boy is HUGE!!! I was telling Dave he's got to be around 6 + pounds by now. She felt around him and smiled and said that yes, in fact he may be closer to 7! These babies grow 1lb a week from here on out, so that should be fun! :) Getting ready for this baby is pretty surreal. I feel like a pro and am not worried about too much, but part of me also feels like this is my 1st baby all over again and I don't remember anything! I know it's going to be crazy for a while and I am psyching myslef up for that, but I also want to just take it day by day and enjoy the baby (if he lets me! :) I pulled a ligament on my stomach last night and so whenever I use my core muscles (constantly) It feels like stabbing pain. So things are fun and exciting around here! Dave and I are just so excited for a new little sweet baby. We are doing projects and getting things done around the house. The kids are always drawing pictures and talking about the baby. So hopefully I will have the baby early! :) If not, the 15th it is!

It's a.....

So we weren't going to find out if we were having a boy or a girl this time. But I might as well share the story of how we did find out and hopefully no one can blame me! :) It was awful. But a few months ago I went into the ER with complications. After not being able to find a fetal heartbeat with the doppler scope (the lady tried for a good 30 minutes), I had to wait 3 depressing and heartwrenching hours in the ER alone starting to go through the greiving process of losing another pregnancy. It was very sad. I heard the nurses talking outside my room about the "pregnant 30 year old female in room 24 with no fetal signs of life". That was really bad, as if the cloth they pull across the door is sound proof. But luckily as soon as they placed the ultrasound scope on me I saw my healthy baby! Not only that but I immediately saw that it was a boy!!! When you've had a few ultrasounds, you can pretty much understand what you're looking at. Needless to say there were more tears and prayers of thanks this time. We are so excited. Everything since then has been great, the baby is moving around like crazy and I pray that things continue to be safe. I only have 3 more months to go! Any name suggestions will be appreciated. We got nothing!
