Princess and the Frog

We took Ayden to his first movie a couple of weeks ago. Overall he did pretty darn well. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a darling movie with great company.

Ayden with some cute friends. Ayden was sitting on the turtle and Boston was really enjoying his popcorn. Marina was the only one really doing what she was supposed to.

Ayden is trying to hold Marina's hand in this picture. She wasn't interested.Image

Zoo Lights

Image Cold. Very cold.
We headed up to Hogle Zoo for zoo lights. Our dear friend Annie and her darling boys joined us. It is a fun idea-but a little disappointing. There were no animals out! I thought that they would have the different indoor areas open-nope. The only thing that we saw that night were tigers. We also chose one of the coldest nights to go up. I think it was 17 degrees. Afterwards our little fam went to Ruth's Diner. I had some delicious tomato artichoke soup.
Overall a fun night together!ImageImage

You be the judge...

Today Ayden and I were making cookies. He climbed up on the stool and found the empty cookie sheets that had not yet had the dough placed on them. The conversation went like this:

Ayden: "Uh-oh! Tookies-are you?" (Translation-"Cookies-where are you?)
Me: Playing along, "Cookies-where are you? Uh-oh! What should we do?
Ayden: "Oh Toodles!" (in a sing-song voice)
Me: Trying to hide my laughter, "Which mouskatool should we use? The cookie one?"
Ayden: "Yesh!" (Throwing his hands in the air) (Translation-"Yes!")

This is Toodles
ImageIt comes when Mickey Mouse needs something to help him solve a problem. Mickey calls out, "Oh Toodles!" Then he chooses one of the "Mouskatools" to help him out.
I will often turn on Playhouse Disney for Ayden while I am feeding Colby and while I am showering and getting ready for the day. I think he must be tuning in a little too often, don't you? :)

Sharing

Thanks for the sticker brother!ImageAyden got this sticker off of an orange we ate with lunch the other day. I finished up doing the dishes and found that Colby had a new accessory

Blessings!

ImageImage Two years ago I made a post by this same title. We blessed Ayden Thanksgiving weekend two years ago, and this time it was Colby's turn. It was a beautiful blessing! We had wonderful family and friends here. Especially at this time of year-isn't that what it is all about? I am extremely grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life. I am so blessed with the opportunity to be a mom. It is the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever been a part of. (I think when they are a little older I will see the rewards more than the challenges ;) ) And I am blessed with a wonderful, patient husband who puts up with my ever-changing emotions on this roller coaster we call life! Thank you!

Happy Turkey Day!

Image A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving we had a Ware Thanksgiving dinner. It was wonderful!
Here is Ayden making gumdrop turkeys with his cousins. Grandma always has some fun activities to entertain the wee ones. Ayden loves wrestling with his cousins and Grandpa!Image

Actual turkey day was spent with my family this year. We had a wonderful dinner at my parents followed by some playing outside with the kids, naps and football. The gals headed up to Park City for a little Black Friday action. We even talked my mom into coming up with us this year-I am not sure that she ever will again-but we had a lot of fun. All of these years of night shifts-staying up all night shopping-no sweat!

We pretty much spent the weekend eating, playing and passing around a stomache bug :)

Here is a line-up of the smooth criminals! All of the Carlisle cousins (other than Colby who was tucked away in his carrier) They look guilty to me!Image

Newborn Photos

ImageImageI have totally forgotten to post these cute pics of our new little booger! Thank you to a darling photographer Abbey Kyhl who squoze us in last minute only 3 days after Colby was born. Although Colby wasn't very happy about being naked and not being held-she still got some darling pictures of this little guy! I wanted a bunch of pictures of Ayden and Colby together. We got a few good ones even though Ayden was pretty freaked out by Colby's umbilical cord. He kept on pointing to it and saying "poop!" and once Colby peed on him-Ayden was done! Check out Abbey's work here.Image

Lately

I have a few pictures-all a bit random-but here are a few things we have been up to lately.
These are just random pictures of us hanging out after breakfast in the morning. Ayden makes some pretty cute faces for the camera these days. That is-when he decides to look at the camera!

I think this is a funny picture of Ayden. This is him caught red-handed pushing Colby in the swing. Sometimes he gives him quite the push-like underdog style!Image
This is the first smile of Colby's captured on film. I love when they start to smile and coo at you! You could spend hours making faces and talking in a high-pitched voice trying to get them to smile!Image
Here Ayden is watching the movie "Up." Whenever he is watching something that he enjoys-he wants to share it with his brother, so you will see him hold Colby's head (forcing him to look in the right direction) and say "baby-show." Don't worry-only with parental supervision! Image A few pictures of Ayden enjoying the snow storm a couple of weeks ago. He was loving it-until he fell down without gloves-then he was ready to come in!ImageImage

Mommy's Little Helper

Ayden loves helping whenever I will let him (most of the time his help is really not so helpful).
He has enjoyed helping me bake lately. I will let him stir and crack eggs. The other day Kipp turned on a football game and Ayden high-tailed out of there to help me bake instead. I think Kipp would've been more rattled about his son wanting to don an apron and bake-but it allowed Kipp to actually be able to watch the game instead of entertain Ayden-so he didn't seem too concerned.Image
This is Ayden's first experience licking the beaters. He wasn't sure about it at first-but then realized how good cake batter is. He was soon asking for more. I think I poured more batter over his beater about 4 times before I decided he had had enough!
Image
Ayden also loves helping me bathe Colby (I don't love it because Ayden ends up soaking wet and I have to change his clothes.) But this mother of two is learning-I now bath Colby before Ayden-so it doesn't matter if he gets sopping wet!
ImageAyden likes to pull this red decorative chair off of one of the shelves in Colby's room and sit on it while he helps bathe him. Crazy weirdo!

Randomness

Here are a lot of random pictures that I have taken lately.
Colby is getting bigger and bigger and continues to be a good baby! He is pretty chill. When he does choose to cry and he is really mad-it is more like he is yelling at me rather than crying. It is pretty funny. Image
ImageAyden has started doing a little pouty face that cracks me up rather than making me feel guilty or sad for him. He will stick out his bottom lip and walk away very slowly with his head down. He wanted Kipp to come downstairs with him yesterday morning and Kipp said no-so out came the lip and he walked away. Too bad it doesn't get him the results he wants-but it gives us a good laugh!ImageMan-reading this makes me sound like the worst mom ever-apparently all I do is laugh at my kids when they are upset! Oh well!

The other day I was putting Ayden's diaper on and it was twisted a little-so I gave it a little tug to fix it. The result:
ImageImage I thought it was pretty funny! It looks like he bent over and tore his diaper open. We may need to start him on a diet!

My Little Monsters

Image Ayden and Colby were both green monsters this year. Ayden's all time favorite thing to say is " Rrrraaarrr!" So I thought the costume appropriate. It was a lot of fun watching him this Halloween. On Halloween morning Kipp and I were trying to get him to catch on to the Trick-or-Treating thing. So Kipp went into the bathroom and closed the door-we had Ayden knock on the door and say "Trick or treat!" But the only part of the phrase he got was "Treat!" Kipp would then answer the door and give him some candy. Nothing like practicing trick-or-treating!
ImageImageImageAyden and some of his buddies that he went Trick-or-Treating with.ImageAt each house, Ayden stepped right up close to the door so he nearly fell into every one's house when they opened the door. I was shocked that Ayden didn't seem phased when our neighbor answered his door like this:
ImageThe best part was that after he gave Ayden a treat in his pumpkin, my neighbor went to give a treat to the next child-but Ayden reached up and took it right out of his hand! I caught it on film. It was darn funny-we then had a talk about only taking one treat.

Image We carved pumpkins on Thursday night. When I say we-it was Kipp and I. Ayden had been excited about pumpkins that is until he saw the Monsters vs. Aliens special that was on last week. In the show the pumpkin comes to life right when a father and son start to carve it. Ayden was at the counter with Kipp when he went to make the first cut to make the face; Ayden started crying and jumped off the stool. It was funny-so we put Ayden to bed and Kipp and I finished carving the pumpkins.
ImageImage
We also went to Kipp's parent's ward Halloween party. Ayden had a ball running around and doing the activities.
Image
Image
He also had a great time dancing with Grandma Betty!

In the first video you see him run back towards me-that is because he was already breaking into his treats-and would come back from his dancing occasionally to grab one. All that dancing takes a lot out of you!

We also went to a Halloween party with some of my friends. Kipp and I were kind of lame about costumes this year. We dressed as swine flu. We just wore jammies and robes, carried a box of Kleenex and thermometer and wore a pig snout. I don't have pictures to document it-but they weren't great anyways!

Just a Taste

ImageLast night we took Ayden outside for a little taste of the winter season. He loved watching the snow from the window during the day-but he was much more excited about being out in it. We tried to teach him how to open his mouth and catch a snowflake, so when he got back inside kept looking up and opening his mouth and then would laugh. Fun to see how excited they get!Image
