This is Classical Bryce

I know I've been horrible updating my blog. I've been busy training for half marathons and marathons and experimenting with my diet. The following is an email from my dear husband which pretty much sums up the madness I've been experiencing with food. I hope you get a kick out of it... it sure made me laugh. I really can be ridiculous AND fanatical, and my husband just humors me (literally):

Ok, I don't even know what to cook for you anymore. In the last 2 months, we've done no sugar, added back in white rice, based on the anti sugar video you watched in which sugar was announced as the great devil, and we were doing low fat (no butter etc.). Carbs were fine, but we had to drink raw milk, and eat raw milk cheese. Then you went to the whole foods thing where we get promised 6000 calories a day and that we get to eat fat, so we added fats, went to high protein, but lower carb, butter etc. Now you're doing weight watchers where who the heck knows what the points mean, where my low fat, filled with lean chicken and vegetables and a little bit of whole wheat pasta is not acceptable for your lunch today.

Next month we'll probably be doing south beach, then atkins, then we'll jump back and do an ancient Hebrew diet with unleavened bread, and bitter herbs, then we'll switch over to Betty Ludlow's raw vegetable diet, after that we'll get on a liquid diet or two to cleanse our colons, follow up with a couple of rounds of HCG with only organic meats and a certain types of vegetables, after that we'll switch to the twinkie diet (can't wait for that one, but I'm wondering if after 2 weeks I can start to add in ding dongs), then we'll do the watermelon diet (they're cheap at Costco right now so that could work), don't forget the grapefruit diet after that.

Can't you see where this is going???!!! We're going to end up being breath-arians. So why don't we just cut out our food bill now, skip all the madness and just start being nuts? Think of all the money we'll save! The girls will probably complain but that's the beauty...we'll just send them outside for some lunch! (Nuts, ooh there's a diet idea...)

I can't keep up.

Funny Sayings

Gretters: When I'm a grown-up boy I'm going to play the bagpipes.

After Baby E took a sewing pin and pricked Bell in the stomach... Bell: (screaming at the top of her lungs). She gave me a shot in my stomach! Baby gave me a shot!

Timber!

Image
One day I will finish catching up my blog for January, February and March, but for now I will post this pic of my cute girls. They built this log tower of power themselves. Notice baby in the log bin. Gretters is in her favorite pink dress that her cousin used to wear. I think she has worn this dress every day this week. It missed laundry day last week, so it may be longer. I keep putting it in the hamper and she keeps fishing it out. It's been worn inside out and right side out so both sides are equally dirty. Lady is in the middle... notice the short hair. She wanted to be different from her sister, but now people can't remember which twin has short hair and which has long. Baby has four teeth now and more hair, but nothing to brag about. She won't let me put hair things in her hair so she's at that awkward hair stage (minus a mullet... which I will post sometime this weekend, MAYBE).

I love these girls!

January: Baby E Turns 1!

Image
Baby's 1st birthday was a day of many firsts...

Her first haircut! Here is the before "Baby Mullet."

Her sisters helped Mommy make her FIRST from-scratch cupcakes: the strawberry cupcake recipe came from the famous Beverly Hills baker "Sprinkles." Real strawberries in the batter, real strawberries in the frosting. Lots of real butter and real sugar. Really delicious.

January: Gretters turns 3!

Image
Our princess is ready for her big day, dressed in her new heart skirt, white shirt and yellow rain boots sent from the Chicago crew.
Image
First stop was to the party place for birthday balloons and decor. The nice ladies gave the girls "masquerade masks" which they are modeling in this photo. They also each got a lollipop, thanks to their mom.

Gretters wanted to go to the trampoline place for her birthday.

Image
She had a really good time!

Image
So did her sisters. Lady took great care of Baby E, holding her while they bounced.

Image
 Bell was fearless!

Image
The party continued at the Pirate Pizza Place where a whole crew sang their special birthday song, while Gretters eyed her hot fudge sundae.

 Ice cream!

 She takes her first bite...

 Delicious!

After dinner and games, we headed home to open presents. Play-doh from Great Grandma and Grandpa Pierson

Grandma Goldenstar and Papa sent a teaset

...and everyone enjoyed tea and cakes.

Happy THIRD Birthday, sweet girl. We're so grateful for you and your zeal for life!

January: Almost 1

Image
She's given up headbands and hair-pretties of any type. That doesn't stop me from trying, though.
Image
Her first words: Dada, hello, hi, "meow"... oh yes, and "mother, I love you!" Well, it sounded like that to me.

January: Curly Hair

Image
After our Aunt Dana introduced us to sponge curlers, we happen to get some of our own at Christmas time. Everyone wanted curlers in her hair... even our curly-haired Gretters, who we could NOT convince that God made better curls than sponge did.
Image
So proud to be part of the curler club. Baby has a bash on her head from her first fall down the stairs.

11 MONTHS OLD (in December)

Image
Milestones: two bottom teeth, crawling like a champ, standing and cruising, feeding herself with a spoon, drinking from a sippy cup, playing with her sisters without adult intervention. Still wasn't sleeping through the night at this point, but thankfully her cuteness saved her from the insanity that can overtake sleep-deprived parents.

December Catch-Up: Portland Children's Museum
