Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test... Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent13 Abstract, -18 Islamic, -4 Ukiyo-e, 9 Cubist, -10 Impressionist and -22 Renaissance!
Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture. People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform. 1. Take a picture of yourself right now. 2. Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair...just take a picture. 3. Post that picture with NO editing. 4. Post these instructions with your picture.

The Aristocrat 86% Elegant, 27% Technological, 47% Historical, 32% Adventurous and 24% Playful! You are the Aristocrat, the embodiment of steampunk elegance and poise. For you, dressing steampunk is first and foremost about simply looking good, with accessories and details to follow. However, this does not mean that you ignore the demands of creating a “steampunk look.” Your outfits weave together a balance between technology and style, and between period accuracy and beautiful anachronism. While your fashion inspiration may come from anywhere across the Victorian social spectrum, you always find a way to make your outfit beautiful. You will probably be found in the clothes of the steam age elite simply because of the greater elegance available to them. Chances are you dress this way because you like it, and you would still dress in this manner even if steampunk was not a popular interest.

Just a short(?) report for CVG 2008
4(5) days, instead of 3, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary. I think they/we should 4 days every 10 years. It was a great con but I wcouldn't do 4 days every year, it was just perfect this time though :)
Day 1, Thursday: Black Canary & Green Arrow Wedding in the Garden Court. It was fun! Tons of Super Heroes and Jedi and other costumes in attendance. Black Canary had her Maid of Honor, Huntress, with her. Everyone looked gorgeous! Thanks for coming to the wedding. It was quick and fun and we had Anakin/Bad Jedi as our "Preist", he did a great job and was really LOUD!!!!
Afterwards we had our Wedding Reception and our Super Hero room party. It was awesome, of course! I didn't have as much help in the room party as I had hoped to have but all turned out well. I had a great bunch of people to help cleanup and move out the next day so all was great. I cannot imagine throwing a party for all 2 much less 3 nights in the future thoughl. So to all you people who have begged me to have the "Party like a Super Hero" room party both nights, I am sorry but dont' think it will happen unless more people offer to help :) I had a great time seeing the party-goers and bartending. My brother DJ'd, everyone seemed to have a good time. comment on the party if you'd like, I'd love to hear feedback!
Wore Black Canary Bridal gown from Wedding Issue
Day2, Friday: Moved out of party room and into our hotel room. Had a busy day! I was on 4 panels as well as the Encore Masquerade performance. Here are the panels I was on that day: Costuming 101: Masquerade and Hall Costumes, Give those Nymphs some Hooters, Phillip Pullman: The Anti-Narnia & How to take over the world - a Villian Panel. I missed the Phillip Pullman panel as I had no time and was going to the Masquerade Encore performance at the same time :( I would have really liked to have been on that panel too! poop! I will give thoughts on my panels at another time. any feedback you may have on a panel i was in I'd love to hear it :)
The Masquerade Encore thingy was aweseome, it was so cool to be included in it. What they did was have a winning costume or 2 from each of the last 10 years so, kind of a "best of the best" performance. It was well run, quick and professional!!! I was very honored to have been asked to be in it too, wore my Cleopatra costume - gorgeous if I do say so myself. It was great to take pictures of the costumes I remember throughout the years and realize that I am friends with a lot of those people who years ago I only admired from afar. Dayna Jean was aweseome back stage Erin & Tim ran a great show. Really, the most well run thing at con I have ever seen. Then again it was quite short :) Did you see it, what did you think? oh yes and I have to mention SESAME STREET ALIENS!!! "Telephone" LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wore Cleopatra after the Encore performance and then for Villian panel changed into my "Six" dress from BSG, it was a hit! Parties were great, shout out to the Egyptian room, it rocked!!!! took pictures there will post later. Other noteable rooms (that I saw), Serenity, Dr. Who, StarWars, Cowasylum, Xena, Misfits, Harry Knowles room..... I'm missing some too :(
Day 3, Saturday: had my yearly "Aerobics with Cleo" 9:30AM panel, it was a great class again. 2 of the people came again from last year!! Woot!!! I asked if they would be interested in doing aerobics at 9:30 on Saturday AND Yoga on 9:30 on Sunday next year and they all said "YES!!! so I think I will make that happen :) It was a really great way to start the day, I suggest it for everyone, if you can manage to get up that early. Also had a Corset Making panel in the afternoon with Eve. The rest of the day was preparing for Masquerade which we did a fun preformance. I wish we had video. Basically Black Canary as Bride (Me), Eve as Huntress and Emily as PowerGirl (and oh yes, did she make a great PowerGirl, if you know the costume you know what I mean! :) We came out and walked to the "Here comes the Bride" music and when we all got in place, with our wedding bouquets, the music changed to "Sweet Dreams" by Eurothemics (sp?) and we danced sexy and then I threw my bouquet to the girls and they fought over it and i chased them off stage. cute! We won "Honorable Mention" in the Master Catagory, which was just fine as they were other AMAZING entried and so to get anything was quite flattering! We worked hard on the outfits and did well on stage but still the amount of competing talent we have in our masquerade is pretty freaking cool!
Wore BC Bridal Gown for a while and then wore "Six" from BSG = FUN!!
Day 4, Sunday: moved out of room, had lots of kids to help, went fast. nice relaxing day. met lots of cool ppl. wish i had kept my swimsuit that day but had already packed and moved it out :( next year. wnet out for foods at TGIF, the first meal I had eaten since Wednesday. food was good. watched Barbarella with ppl at Cinema Rex and it was great. Now people will know it when I wear the Barbarela fur costume next year and at DragonCon this year! woot!
Day 5: Went to a panel at 12:01 midnight/monday morning to have the con be a "5" day con, in memory of Michael Sheard and for others we lost over the last years. It was cool and there were like, 200 people there??? Tim talked about Roadkill too, and it was nice and a chocolate fish was smuushed.
all in all a flipping awesome con! my brother went along, his first ever con and he loved it and we have already planned costumes for next years theme. "The funnier side of Sci-Fi" can I just say, Mel Brooks!

So this was the week to start back on my workout plan, Body for Life! I hurt my back 2 months ago and am just getting ready to go back to regular life.
I am taking it a bit easy so instead of serious cardio/running, I am walking hard instead. Here is what I have done this week, and I must say, I KICK ASS! :)
( week workoutCollapse )
The plan is: Walk around Isles 5 days a week w/Eve. - so far 4 for 4 Weights 3 days a week, BFL style but all body parts each weight day instead of the upper/lower days. - so far 2 for 3 this week Eat BFL style, 4 meals a day if possible, 6 hopefully I bought all good groceries so that is going well :) yum protein! so far this has been acheivable! Stretch everyday, always, I never forget this part so that is easy. - obviously YES! Yoga at LEAST every Saturday morning class, and add in Wed. night class when possible and I usually do my sun salutations when i first wake up to get my blood going so that is always a good thing to start the day with :) - haven't done the class yet but do the asanas in the morning on my own
How are you and your body?

I just wanted to write that I am still, after 7 years or so of bring on lj (yeah I'm old-er than you!), so surprised that people can get mean to a "friend", on their friends list.
It is just amazing to me.
here is what I think about lj posting, not that you care :) and also, I never post anything that dramatic, as I mentioned already, I am quite boring. So this hardly has even happened to me, I just see it happen to others and it seems rude!
1. It is your journal post whatever the hell you want. 2. It is public (to whatever level you post) there may be consequences to what you choose to post. a. you could have your journal printed out and taken to court, if someone wants to hurt you that way-which is why I hardly post anything of consequence here-been there done that, even on a friend list posting. b. you may have "friends" that either are not nice, don't believe in the same things you do or just want to be poops, sometime it is not nice to have that reality, stuff shoved in your face but it could happen. c. someone could share what you post with someone else NOT on your friends list. depends how much you trust your friends 3. I think "friends" should comment in a respectful way, if they feel the need to comment in someone else's post. I think name-calling and other such bullshit, ie. making someone feel bad/stupid is awful and if you post that way, it is pretty apparent to everyone else how insecure you are. a. Of course if you post that you think certain people are stupid be prepared for those people to comment back at you about how they resent it. 4. If you vent, people should take it as a vent and CHILL THE F**K OUT. sheesh! If I was venting to someone - face-to-face, I would hope that my "Friends" would be supportive and understand that I am venting, and not really being the most logical, at that time.
i guess that is it, i wonder if there is a "rules" list for lj posting.... also, this is not in response to anything that specifically has just happened, I just wanted to journal about it. Anything else you can think of adding to this list? We need a Miss Manners for LJ : )
Also, I love LJ communities, i have just joined a DragonCON community and fairy community and I love them! so exciting! I am thinking about starting a fitness/con community, centered around planning fitness because of upcoming Con dates and travel. Somewhat like Class Reunion fitness but more geeky!

I'm making another corset and I had great help at convergence for which boning I should use but now I don't remember what I should use.
Should I use steel boning or spiral boning? I know at least not to use the plastic boning again, as it sagged and bent the wrong way at con!
any help is greatly appreciated. I want it to be good and the best, I only want to make this corset once :)
thanks!!!
