This Weekend

Image
I actually got Randy to take a pic of me so it was a little more accurate. I go to the Doc on Tues. so I will have some more updates then. I really am just doing this for journaling purposes.

Saturday
Image
On Saturday we went to Pleasant Grove's fire station for breakfast. They had this huge event for charity that they do every year. You pay $5 a head and whatever else donations and they feed you a yummy breakfast. We got pancakes, hash browns, eggs, ham, chocolate milk, sunny D etc. It was great to see so many people there. This year they were giving extra support to a fire fighter who just got diagnosed with prostate cancer. I think all cities should have an event like this once a year. They had a bunch of volunteers and of course the firefighters served us. They had all the engines out so the kids could see along with some really ancient looking ones. They were supposed to have life flight come fly in, but they got a call and couldn't make it. Jay loved it. He thought it was so neat to eat breakfast in the apparatus bay. Kevin and Jessie came with us for extra support.

Jay loved to drive this fire truck. It had a really loud siren on it that was very annoying that little kids kept pushing. We don't know where the parents ran off to, but they didn't seem to be there to tell their children "No hunny, don't push that button 20 times in a row!"

Rans and Jay

The other day Randy decided to take Jay for some Father/son time so I could have myself a little nap. It was so nice because I never get to sleep during the day. Either Randy is sleeping because he has worked all night or when I try to sleep Jay pokes out my eyeballs and says, "You are snoring again Mom!" Which, by the way has only happened with in the last few weeks, along with drooling...thanks baby. Anyway, they drove up Provo canyon and got a couple of snackies. Jay's usual is a slurpee and m&m's. Is he our kid or what?

Another Week

Me:
Image
Jamison has become semi-decent at taking pictures. Normally I would not have so many pictures of myself, but looking back at my pregnancy with Jamison I have a total of 4 pics my whole pregnancy. So, even though I feel totally huge and disgusting I know I will want these pics later for remembrance. (Especially if it happens to be our last.) I am doing great, I think. This time last pregnancy I had to be on bed rest, so I am happy that things are better than that. I don't have another appointment until June 2, 2009 and that is when they will start checking me every week. It seems so close and scary, yet I have no idea how I am going to make it another 4-5 weeks!!! I am having a hard time sleeping and have to take a bath almost every night to ease the pain of all my aches.
Rans:
Image
Randy, as always has been working a ton. We got to go watch another couple softball games. It is nice to go, but I think Jay enjoys pounding on the benches like drums and eating the snacks we bring more than watching the game. He also loves to yell, "Go Dad!" Again, I won't state the score. I will just say what a great effort they gave. It's all in good fun, right? (Well, according to Randy and I it is more fun if you win...)
Jay:

*Jay's face when he saw how big my naked belly really is!
Jay had to give the scripture in primary today. He did such a good job and we practiced all week for him to read it all by himself. He did John 3:5. He just took his little paper up there while Rans and I stayed in the back row and he did it all by himself. It is moments like those I cherish most. We are such proud parents. He was so excited about it he just kept giving us the thumbs up. He knew he did a good job too.

Mini Camping

Image
It looks like beautiful weather now, but when we arrived at the camp site it was pouring rain. We decided to wait it out and that was a good choice because it cleared up in about 20 min. and then we could enjoy the rest of our day. The trees and site were so awesome and green. I felt like we were in the movie Ferngully. Especially since there was all that rain. We went up Hobble Creek canyon with the Jamison's. We did this last September too and it was so fun we decided to make it a regular thing.

Jay by our awesome fire that Shelly and I did amazing job at keeping it going.

The boys wanted to collect bugs and things. Little did I know that it would include a little snake. I didn't get a pic of it but it was really creepy looking. I could barely look at it but, the boys thought it was the coolest thing ever! They also caught beetles and Roley poleys.
Image
We had some yummy hot dogs, chips, sodas, beans etc. and for dessert, smores and peach cobbler in a can. (Peaches cooked on the fire with yellow cake mix and cinnamon...SO good.)

Ava was such a little doll. She barely made a peep the whole time and loved playing with all of the little worms that were landing on her. Seriously, there were a ridiculous amount of worms like floating in the air landing on everything.
Image
The boys got to do some fishing. They all took turns reeling one in. That was Jay's favorite part of camping.

Jarrod catching another one....what a pro.
They threw all of them back (catch and release) but, it was so cool to see them catch them. I think the boys will be planning a fishing trip, no girls aloud. Shelly and I said we will take the opportunity to go to a day spa and that it was fine by us! It was such a fun day and I am so glad we did it. I wish I would have been able to do more then just sit around, but it still felt good to be out in the open air. We are going to try and go again some time soon. Probably after the baby though...

Keeping Busy

Image
Today we went over to Shelly's for fun in the water and a cool slip and slide. A lot of the neighbors came out too, which was fun. It was so hot today. I think it got up to 90, which is the hottest it has been so far this summer.
P.S. I know it looks like Jay doesn't eat by the look of his ribs. It is because I eat all the food in the house now.:)
Image
It took him seriously an hour to even attempt to go down the S&S. This pic is pretty accurate of the speed he was going down, letting each spray of cold water paralyse him. I kept telling him, "Just go faster and you won't even feel the water." Baby steps....

The boys playing bubbles

We had a play date with the Sleaters last week. Shanda made the long trek down to our part of town. We went swimming at the Rec Center and then had a picnic at the park. It was randomly cool when we first got to the park, but soon warmed up. The kids had so much fun.

33 Weeks

Another Dr.'s appointment today. Everything seems to be going smoothly. I haven't had the shooting pain in my left side for 2 weeks now and I have come to the conclusion it is because our little baby girl has finally flipped! No more breech baby, which I am SO excited about. I am still having a little sciatic nerve pain, but it is way better. My blood pressure was good. (Maybe a little low.) My weight is on track so I am happy about that. I mentioned to the Doc my dizzy/light headed spells so he tested my iron again and it was even lower then last time. I guess the prune juice wasn't good enough. (Although you have no idea how fun it was gagging it down.) So I am on iron supplements 2 times a day plus my prenatal. Hopefully that will give me the energy I need to go another 7 weeks! This little girl is coming fast yet not fast enough. And...for all of you that are wondering, no we don't have a name picked out and even if we did we wouldn't tell you. :)

Random

Jam
Image
I have been really adamant about getting projects done. I spent a a few hours one day making a hearty supply of jam (Apricot and strawberry.) You would think this would be a years supply for most, but the crazy thing is, this will last us probably 2-3 months. We likey the jam. If I thought peanut butter making was possible I would do that too. (I really have sat down and figured it out and it would cost more and become rancid faster if I made it myself.) With strawberries being on sale for .88 cents and buying a 25 pound bag of sugar for 8 dollars and pectin for .50 cents, you can't beat that. It comes out about $1.01 a jar. Which, for awesome homemade jelly isn't too bad.
Park
Image
Image
We went over to Nelson Park with my friend Anna and her kids. We fed the ducks there and played for a while. The day was beautiful. About 30 min after we got there, 3 bus loads of kids in red shirts bombarded the park. I hate when older kids use the little play stuff. We left soon after because we were annoyed at the lack of supervision. I don't think I saw one adult from the school/camp they were from? (Total pet peeve of mine.)
Bathing Suit
How hard can it be people? A maternity suit in Utah. Sounds like it wouldn't be that hard. WRONG-O. I looked at: Walmart, Target, JcPenny, Motherhood Maternity, Gap, Old Navy, Shade, Kohl's, Dillards, etc. etc. and had the hardest time. My problem is that some don't carry maternity or if they do, it's the wrong kind. I swear I am going to invent my own swim wear line. All of the ones I was looking at had a cute nice and huge top for the belly and then, this skimpy looking bottom. I could find NO maternity bottoms in either shorts or a skirt? What the heck? Like I want my thighs showing in any way? Not to mention stretch marks, please. Hello, not everyone looks cute pregnant and the swim suit company's should know this. So, I ended up getting a skirt bottom that my aunt had and then found a random top at target to match. I didn't want to spend a ton because I will only be using it for 1-2 months. Still, if I would have found something I liked, I would have paid anything. What a night mare!
Hair dryer
I guess I have had some pretty bad luck with hair dryers. The last one I had some how got a cut in the wiring and when I used it, almost caught my hair on fire, sparks and all. This morning before church (Of coarse it has to be on a Sunday at 8:00 in the morning.) I went to blow dry my hair and instant burning smell. I quickly unplugged the dryer and said, "Randy, does this smell like it is going to explode?" He agreed with me that something was just not right. So, I had to go to church with a wet head some how maneuvered into a bun type looking do. Randy calls it the mildew bun. I think because when I take my hair down at night it is still wet from the morning somehow causing it to grow mildew during the day. I reassure him that it is still clean hair even making him smell it and check for bacteria, but he won't listen. So instead I give him a car wash. (Where I sweep my wet hair back and forth on his face. He HATES it. I think it is hilarious.) So, anyway, guess I will be shopping for a new hair dryer tomorrow.

32 Weeks

Image
Image
Jay took these so they are not that great. (That's why I had to change them to black and white.) I feel like the marshmallow man. My back is really starting to hurt and Randy is probably sick of my endless groaning. He is really good to tell me to take it easy, I just have a hard time doing that. The weather has been beautiful and we have made many trips to the park and done a lot of bike riding. (Jay, not me.) I can not wait until the outside pool opens here. I think I am going to just move in there. Swim lessons for Jay don't start until June so we must be patient. At this point I don't care if we spray ourselves down with the hose for fun. The other day we went over to Shelly's house and the boys played in the hose. I think they could have done it all day. Of coarse Jay was hesitant to get wet, but he soon realized it wasn't the end of the world for his clothes to get wet. So much fun.

Birdy

Image
Image
Yesterday Jay and I spent some time making a paper chain for the count down of our baby. (At least until the due date...hopefully sooner.) He was so excited to cut everything out. He did a great job. It is amazing to me how big he is, and how he is such a little man. He is going to be such a great helper when this baby arrives.
As for Jamison, we have made a pretty big decision. Randy and I have been going back and forth about this for months now. We finally decided that we will put Jay in Kindergarten this year. His birthday is too late for public school, so he would have to wait a one more whole year if we went that route. So, we are putting him in a private school that goes up to 5Th grade. It is an amazing school that came highly recommended from my friend Shanda. Jay is so excited to start school that he begs to do his reading and work books every day. I can't believe how good he has gotten at his reading even within the last week. I feel very confident after talking to the schools director that this is going to be the best thing for him. I think he is totally ready and will love having the stimulation everyday. I think it will also help in giving me some one on one baby time/nap time. I am so excited for him, but terrified at the same time. I don't want to let my little boy grow up. Although he is a smart boy, I am worried about his soft heart and sensitive nature. (It is what I love most about him.)I am worried that he will be "tainted" by other kids and their craziness... Deep breath...I know I have to get over it, it's life. But, I can still be excited and a nervous wreck at the same time, right?

Crafty

I finally did it! I have been wanting to make a nursing cover forever. I think they are the coolest thing invented. My friend Anna and I were going to make them a long time ago and then life got in the way. I decided that I better do it before the baby comes. I got the info and online tutorials from my "awesome at crafts" friend Sarah. She has a lot of great ideas.( I would have you check out her blog, but I think it is private.) So, I don't think it turned out too bad for my first time. I also had some extra fabric and ribbon and made some pretty burp clothes. I wanted something girly. I think I might make some little blankets and a diaper/wipe holder too. It is so fun to make things when they turn out.
