Woman of Steel 2013

This was so fun, but so freezing. I won't write a play by play because hopefully I will be doing these a lot. But, I will say, it was rainy and wet and cold. I could barely feel my fingers to tie my shoes. If it hadn't been so cold it would have been a lot more fun. But, I beat my time last year and that is all that was important to me. The bike portion was a little slower this time. I attribute that to rain and wind in my face. Oh, and not wanting to die on the downhill. The weird part is that I was alone for most of the race. I had no bikers around and no runners. Only a handful of people passed me and I only passed a handful of people. Weird. The BEST part was that I got to do the race with my sis in law Jessie and my new friend and neighbor Melyssa.
And I have to share this pic....

Because I saw this and thought...I look so old. And I thought it was funny that I was feeding my whole plate of food to the kids.AND...look at how everyone around is wearing sweatshirts and jackets...freezing.

Stats for my records:
Swim 7:18
T1 3:12
Bike 51:48
T2 2:49
Run 31:19

Final Time 1:36
Place 177/382
Division Placing 36/69

Man, what a fun weekend. We were able to go down and spend the weekend at the Dunn's Condo. Jeanna came over to watch the kids and Kevin and Jessie, along with the Boehners were all there. The first day as the boys were throwing up from nerves getting their race stuff set up, Lindsey and I got to read magazines by the pool. It was the BEST thing ever. No kids, nothing to do, and plenty of sun. The next morning was a little more chaotic. The boys were up bright and early and we got to sleep in a little and plan our day of how we were going to keep track of 4 boys racing and not miss any of them. Honestly it was kinda stressful for us. We tagged teamed, making phone calls between the girls at different locations and magically managed to see everyone on the bike to run transition and finish. Kevin was injured on the bike and was unfortunetly  unable to finish despite his will. The boys came in phases and it was an all day process. We all got plenty of sun and were exhausted by the end. This very last pic is of a lady who was there from the very first racer. She stood by the finish line for HOURS screaming for each racer that went by. She would say things like," You are almost there!, Don't give up now! You can do it runner!" I absolutely loved her. I am sure that Randy has a way different point of view of the whole race, but since he would never write it you will have to settle for mine. I thought it was an amazing experience and so inspiring. And wow, I am married to a real Iron man. Take that Gwyneth Paltrow.

We call her Juice Box

Image
Jenny had homework to make a gingerbread man. Luckily Grammie was in town to help her out, bless her.

Here are a few things I have heard or seen from Jenny lately:

-"Mom, it stopped darking outside!" (When the sun is up.)
-Calling Jay, "Me lady" because she knows he hates it. Like, "Thank you me lady."
-"Opie Dopie Smokie"
-"If you are mean to me, it will break my heart!"
-When she wants to do something and I won't let her she will say, "It is up to me Mom."
-We were walking out of the Gym and it was super windy and she said, "My hair is freaken killing me!"
-While in the car she wants to hear our Wedding song on repeat.
-She hates it when Cort tries to sing along with her and she will start screaming really loud for him to stop. (No duets for this girl.)
-She demands every night that Jay reads her a story before bed. Which kinda works out because he has to get his reading done anyway.
-She asks me every night, "What's in the morning?"
-She loves to run
-She tells me everyday that she is hungry for a cookie. (Who isn't?)

A Fort Night

Image
Friday has become our Fort and movie night when Dad is not home. Still trying to master the perfect Fort.
