A brief history of Cold Front
Cold Front was born in 2005 when Lynne Lewis and Becky Gilden gathered people to participate in an independent women’s ultimate team. We are now an incredible team of about ~50 people who are women, non-binary and gender non-conforming who take the sport of ultimate frisbee seriously and love to have fun while playing and learning!
No experience is necessary to join our team. We love to educate anyone who wants to learn about the great game of ultimate. Most of our players join the team never having touched a disc before. Therefore, there is a wide range of skill on our team, from very experienced, National-level players, to those who have never played before. We like playing ultimate, making up nicknames, wearing flair, and having a lot of fun, so come join our team!
In the fall, we hold practices about four times a week, in addition to organizing and attending fun and competitive tournaments. We have mixed scrimmages with Orange Whip on Fridays and attend a few tournaments with them as well!
In the winter, we hold practices and get together with O-Whip and form an indoor ultimate league that plays Sunday evenings in January and February.
In the Spring we split into two teams Blizzard and Squall. The two teams have separate and combined practices from February to May. The difference between the two teams is that Blizzard has tryouts and competes in post-season whereas Squall is a team that welcomes everyone and will sometime play in friendly tournaments.
