Our Mission:
Championing Black Lives and Justice
We help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us.
As a national online force driven by millions of members, we move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.
Our campaigns and initiatives win changes that matter. By designing strategies powerful enough to fight racism and injustice—in politics and culture, in the work place and the economy, in criminal justice and community life, and wherever they exist—we are changing both the written and unwritten rules of society. We mobilize our members to end practices and systems that unfairly hold Black people back, and champion solutions that move us all forward.

Since 2005, Color Of Change has made vital progress as one of the nation’s leading racial justice organizations to help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us.
2005
Color of Change
was founded
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Color Of Change was founded to strengthen the political voice of Black people in America using online tools.
2007
Color Of Change members called
for justice for the Jena 6
We raised more than $200,000 to fund their legal defense, and 10,000 Color Of Change members marched in Jena, Louisiana. In June 2009, all remaining charges against the young men were reduced.
2011
More than 285,000 Color Of Change members participated
in a campaign to have Glenn Beck’s show removed from Fox News
Color Of Change pressured 300 advertisers to request that their commercials not be shown during Beck's program, and compelled Fox News to take his show off the air.
2012
PRESSURING CORPORATES
for justice
Color Of Change pressured major corporations to cut ties with ALEC over "Stand Your Ground" laws, advancing criminal justice reform.
2014
Color Of Change Establishes
OrganizeFor
Color Of Change created a tool that empowers individuals to lead change on the issues they care most about. Real world campaigns run by real world people that strengthen Black political power and create a more just society for everyone.
2017
#BlackWomensBrunch
We launched the Black Women's Brunch series to force the nation to respond directly to the needs of Black women and discuss how we can organize to create a new future for Black women and the nation.
2018
Color Of Change Members
Save Disney’s Black Princess
Color Of Change’s used racial justice principles to rewrite the rules on representation in reality TV, writers’ rooms, and children’s blockbuster animation films.
2019
Color of Change successfully pushed wedding platforms
to stop romanticizing slavery
Pinterest, Wedding Wire, the Knot, and Zola no longer accept ad revenue from plantation venues or feature them in editorial content, and will all institute various levels of restriction for those venues in their directories.
2020
#StopHateForProfit
Color Of Change called on all advertisers to stand in solidarity with Black Facebook users and send the message to Facebook that they must stop the monetization of hate speech and discrimination in their algorithms by pausing all advertising on Facebook-owned platforms for the month of July 2020.
2022

The legislation supporting prison reform will help families stay connected while saving them millions of dollars
2025
Black Tech Agenda Entered into the Congressional Record
Our comprehensive roadmap to prioritizing the policies that impact Black communities on and offline, is an effort to distinguish the real solutions to advance racial equity from fake, self-regulated suggestions proposed by Big Tech.
