And I agree with the others that he’s probably counting on Tess (from the top rope with the steel… everything) to come save him before it runs out of interest.
It feels like Erin is gloating in the last panel, setup for a punchline… Something about the dragon not being fast enough, and a big target to take advantage of. Sounds like Tess. If not, perhaps some setup they’ve done offscreen? Something of Dainix’s? Smoke bomb, lightning runes, etc.?

So we can say that the paladins atleast know that erin is not directly under the control of the VD right? “Brave enough” is interesting wording by the dragon, so far the dragon has been the most intelligent I would say, maybe the lady’s parting gift also includes 300 IQ
Honestly, I think EVERYONE else is going to pretty miserable. Falst is VERY injured, so neither he nor Dainix will be happy about that. Alinua won’t be pleased either. Kendal’s never happy when people are in danger. Erin’s going to get very frustrated just talking to these Paladins. Tess might enjoy fighting another dragon, but won’t be happy to see Erin out of his cave.
Rakhn will probably be kicking himself silly though.

I woke up at 4 am and was thinking about Aurora so this thought has nothing to do with today’s page: I wonder if Falst’s dad being a Paladin is connected to his mom’s Cave/Void/Light? Corruption… if they’re different aspects of the same element, there’d only be one form of soul corruption, right?
(If how his mom got corrupted has already been addressed, I apologize, I’m tired)
I’ve thought about that too. I think that Light corruption would look different because when Dainix was releasing the void he had transmutated he was hearing how hunger’s what the void defines itself as, but when striped from all pretense it is something else. Since the primary symptom of cave corruption is hunger, I’d assume light corruption looks differently as the light dragon would define itself differently. I think that such corruption would be rare since the light dragon takes a very active and benevolent role in the lives of people who channel its power, so it wouldn’t accidentally overload them.

I love how absolutely done Aryss sounds. They’ve just ferried a bunch of Paladins across the sea, the fight starts without them, the Recten and others get roughed up by just one opponent that Aryss beat with a single blow, and now the Paladins shriek in terror at a fearful, foolish, underwhelmingly un-voidy mage.
Aryss was promised a great mission, the ultimate battle with the ultimate foe, and this is what all amounts to? A Tess knuckle sandwich could only improve their mood at this point.
Prediction for next week: … I think we all know what’s, or rather who’s, coming to deal with Aryss; I wonder what Tess will think of a talking dragon, assuming she hasn’t met them before. If she’s bringing Kendal too that should give the others enough of a distraction to put their phoney singing cave spelunking plan into motion.

I still think Erin is quite brave in distracting Large-and-In-Charge, even if he thinks his plan will work. I am surprised Walter is going along the plan as well, but grateful. But Walter does enjoy out playing their enemies immensely. So Erin is playing off two dragons’ vanity at the same time.
