Comix Action is a group of NYC-area comics creators and industry professionals united to resist fascism, support colleagues in need, and keep our neighbors and communities safe.

OUR SHARED VALUES

We believe the joy and human expression of comics and creative work are inextricably tied to the principles of democracy, fairness, economic justice, and civil rights and liberties for people of all backgrounds.

We support solidarity among all groups and people who believe in fighting bigotry and exploitation, rejecting sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia, and any other form of discrimination.

We believe in neighbors helping neighbors and the principle that there’s always something we can do, even when the government, corporations, media, and other institutions fail us.

We support the labor rights of all comics creators, including not only fair treatment and compensation for anyone working for hire, but also creators’ intellectual rights over their original work.

We stand for comics as a meaningful, joyful, personal and communal experience, including making, sharing, selling, and critiquing comics, and we stand against generative “A.i.” and LLMs. While we make reasonable accommodations for such things as ethical machine learning in science, we reject consumer-facing generative “A.i.” and LLMs based on theft that push fraud and disinformation, deskill and harm vulnerable people, damage the environment, and rob humans of the experience of learning and growing through artistic creation and critique of their own.
