Before gifting financially to this project, please consider whether you have the resources to gift anything else - be it any part of your time, your skills, etc.
All gifts are appreciated and used to forward the goals stated within. Those gifts which move us as a community away from participation in a capitalist economy are, frankly, more useful. Please take a moment to consider what you might be able to gift, then contact me about it!

Hello!

Welcome. My name is Rose.

I want to help change our culture toward one which is caring and collective. I want to cultivate post-capitalism. This is not a task I will ever be able to undertake alone. There are millions of people who are doing similar work (the revolution is now), and I am glad for that. The more of us there are, the more diverse and multidutinous our efforts, the more our hope for change.
There are many ways to affect change in our culture, to shift the structures of the imperial core to more effectively align with the needs of humanity. My chosen weapon in this struggle is art. Specifically, co-creative art.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.”

--Ursula Le Guin

I am, personally, primarily a poet and a writer. Perhaps you came here because of my writing. I write a lot about queerness and art and systems of radical care, and though the writing I do is very important to me, it is not the primary mode in which this project operates.

This project is, first and foremost, co-creative. I will not, alone, ever have all the answers to how we can shift our society in a positive direction. That's a good thing! Different perspectives from others allow for growth and new understanding through synthesis.
To that end, this project is one in which I will continually seek out chances to co-create art alongside my friends, especially those who I believe have something interesting to contribute to discussions of oppression.
Beyond the initial work of setting this project up, I will commit to avoid burnout by only putting in as many hours as would equate to a wage of $25 per hour. For collaborative work, I will pay my collaborators using the same method. I will not work more than 20 hours per week on this project. Any money in each month which is not used to pay myself or collaborators will be used to fund local mutual aid efforts in Santa Cruz, CA.

By creating art with my friends which addresses a hope for a better future: I intend to continually formulate a more robust understanding of the levers we have to affect change with; I intend to create opportunities for viewers and participants to more fully imagine a caring future; I intend to make a bunch of really cool multidisciplinary art.

Thank you for whatever support you are able to provide.

This is the video that introduces my thesis! I didn't make it myself but I'm still very proud of the work I did to help with it. Check it out - it's a good short introduction to the ideas in my thesis paper.
