Sock Days

I have coined this term, "Sock Day"
When it is a sock day I am pumped!  It means I put on my warm cozy socks, and NEVER put on my shoes!  This means that I get to be home all day, and be a mom.  Today is one of those days;

These are my socks today.

Now when Colin leaves for work he will ask if it's a sock day.
My kids should ask me.  It is a big deal for them too.  It means no running around crazy-like to lessons, and such.  Sock days mean mom and Ruby lay by the fire and watch ANOTHER backyardigans.  Sock days can also find me in the kitchen making some Chippers for my favorite boy when he gets home from school.  It can even mean laundry and toilet cleaning, I don't care!  It just means to me that I get to SLOW down and get cozy and enjoy the fleeting days of my young kids lives:)

Thanks socks for bringing such joy and warmth to my feet and heart!

PJ's and Caroling

Nana does PJ's and Caroling every year.  We are not the best singers so I am not sure why we do it.  The kids think it is a riot.  I guess, once we are out there it is fun:)

Indoor Soccer

The last 6 weeks we have had 4 soccer games every saturday!!  I can't think of a more fun way to spend a saturday, but I will be happy to end that session!

Hank and Trey were put on a "House" team.  The team had quit a few good little players, but they had never played together.  They lost every game!

These smiles are because the FINALLY won their last game!  Hank even had 3 goals!
What a great way to end the session!  LOVED watching these two play together.

Jack got to play with the NINJA'S!  It was so fun!  They won every game.  They are silly little crazy boys!

Sugar Cubes

Image
One boring January a couple years ago, Colin came home with boxes of sugar cubes to build something.  We were in need of some entertainment.  WELL, that has turned into a tradition.  This year we did it a little earlier than years past, but it is still a lot of fun!

Of course...

Nana's Grand Adventure

We started this tradition last year.  We take the kids on frontrunner, and go to the Grand America.  Every year they have these window displays that are a sort of scavenger hunt.  After it is completed they give you a cookie.  It is so fun, and the kids love it.  Afterward, we go to Little America and eat at the diner.  So much fun:)

We have nicknamed it "Nana's Grand Adventure"

Candy Making 2012

The annual candy making tradition is probably one of my ALL time favorite traditions.  Women in the kitchen, and chocolate.  We gather at my house every year and dip chocolates, make toffee, caramels, and fudge!

The house has to be the right temperature or everything melts in your hands.  Thanks to the warmer temperature, we couldn't cool the house or chocolates like we would like.
