I spent years working as a lawyer in litigation, managing long hours and high-pressure cases, while always trying to stay in control. I thought if I just worked harder, things would get better. But underneath, I was silently struggling with anxiety, ADHD and addiction. I pushed through–until I couldn’t.
Eventually, I made the difficult decision to step away from practising law and to focus on my healing and path forward. That uncertain choice changed everything. Recovery wasn’t easy, but it led me to a life that finally feels meaningful and grounded. Through my journey, I saw how many professionals, especially in high-stress fields, felt stuck in cycles of perfectionism, burnout and self-destructive coping.
Wanting to make a difference in the lives of others, I went back to school and earned my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and committed myself to helping others who feel overwhelmed, anxious or stuck through my therapeutic practice, Cook Counselling.
Clarity and healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.
