Source Code Formatting in HTML

Hello, I'm mostly a lurker in this community steadily learning C and C++ on my own. Something I began to notice is that there is common disagreement as to formatting between many people who post source code online, and is often never accounted for by people who are new at coding leading to errors in posts as well as whole code being omitted from other HTML pages. I've never seen a document describing the formatting of Source Code on the World Wide Web. Though such a document may exist, I decided to write one myself through frustration of searching. I hope this guide helps those in this particular community and similar ones.
