debugging on visual c++

okay im new to this community but i hope u guys can help me...im a newbie with visual studio and i wrote a really simple test program to see how it runs...now it built fine but when i want to debug it..it gives me this error warning saying "Unable to start debugging" and "unable to start program C:\Documents and Settings\user\test\Release\test.exe" and "the system cannot find the file specified."
when i installed visual studio everything went well...so i dont know whats happening...thanks for ur help
