Listens: "The worst is yet to come" - Still Remains

I apologize that this isn't a technical problem, but it is something I would like cleared up. I was told by an instructor at a school I was planning on going to that C++ was being phased out and that the "industry" (General term) was moving towards java2 as the new "in" language. I looked through the classes and certifications offered, and only saw java/sun certified, was this because java is now the preferred language? Or could it have been Sun made a deal with them and that's what they only wanted offered?

I ask this because I'm looking into making apps and such for RFID (getting a chip of my own soon, hopefully) and I would like to get a jumpstart either way. I'm mostly self-taught in C++ (Not enough to matter. Just started getting into the basics of classes, accessor methods, and whatnot) and would like to program in that, but not if it's considered to be "dying." Have you guys heard anything to even suggest that C++ is being phased out? Thank you in advance.
