I just StumbleUpon-ed FreeTechBooks.com, a site that (according to its home page) "lists free online computer science and engineering books and lecture notes, all of which are freely and legally available over the Internet."

I haven't delved too deeply into it yet, but a cursory look-around suggests it could be very useful. It lists 20 books on C and C++.
