random numbers

I was wondering if there is a library for for generating random numbers in Visual and how you are suppose to use stings in visual. I tried including the sting and string.h but i cant seem to figure it out so im stuck with using char arrays. Maybe i dont know cuz im not that experienced but if anyone can help me out, please comment.
