I had to make cards for my brother and his son today. They both have birthdays on the 7th Feb, and as I will see them at my Dad’s birthday meal tomorrow, I thought I’d save on postage! I used stamps by The Artistic Stamper and Hero Arts on my brother’s card, and DCVW Rockstar patterned paper on Tom’s card. That Rockstar paper pad has been invaluable for all my teenage cards, I would definitely recommend it!

Sunday Stampers – Blue Eyes
Posted in Cards, Sunday Stampers on January 29, 2009 by craftytrogThis card is for my lovely dad, whose 70th birthday is next week. As the theme over at Sunday Stampers this week is blue, I thought I’d enter it for the challenge. I used stamps by Crafty Individuals and Hero Arts.
60th Birthday Card/ Wednesday Stamper
Posted in Cards, Wednesday Stampers on January 29, 2009 by craftytrogI received the commission to make this card a while ago, and have been searching for inspiration as I wanted to make it special. The lady who will be sixty is a teacher at my daughter’s school. Anyway, as I was looking through my latest copy of Stamper’s Sampler, I came across Guest Artist Janet Pensiero. Her ‘shopping’ card on page 20, and the ‘dream dress’ one above it, immediately gave me the inspiration I’d been searching for! Here is my interpretation. I used items from the K & Co Hannah Scrap Pad To Go, stamps by Dawn Hauser, Anna Griffin and Hero Arts, and finished with a bow made with my favourite vintage lace. The little tags have the names of Sue’s favourite shops, so it’s a very personalised card. I hope she likes it! :0)
Also, I’m entering this card for this week’s Wednesday Stamper challenge, as the theme is Handbags.
Stampboard brooches – UK Art Raffle
Posted in Jewellery on January 27, 2009 by craftytrogI made one of these brooches for the UK Art Raffle, and liked it so much, I made one for myself too! They are different sized stampbord dominoes, and I will be sending the larger one to the Raffle (the bottom one).

Posted in Uncategorized on January 22, 2009 by craftytrogThis week on Theme Thursday, the challenge was to make a piece of art measuring only 2 x 4 inches. I’d just mounted a new stamp this morning, 5 Girlfriends by Rivercity Rubberworks, and it was just the right size! I stamped it on a spritzed background and cut around the design. Then I stamped a new flourish stamp by Clarity onto an alcohol inked background. I added the ladies to the background, then added some ruched vintage lace and the dymo word, and finally mounted this onto a black 2 x 4 piece of card. As a friend of mine has her birthday this month, I think I shall use this as a topper on her card.
Vintage Postcard from the USA – UK Stampers & Wednesday Stamper
Posted in Uncategorized on January 21, 2009 by craftytrogHere is my entry for this week’s Sunday Challenge over at UK Stampers, and also The Wednesday Stampers. I coloured a glossy white postcard with caramel alcohol ink, stamped the image with sepia archival ink, added lace which was dyed with scattered straw distress ink, and finally popped on some prima flowers and buttons in the corners.
Handbag Card
Posted in Uncategorized on January 20, 2009 by craftytrogHere’s a quick card I made tonight, as my friend needed a card for her niece who will be 14, and she needs to send it tomorrow! The Hero Arts handbag stamp set is one I bought a few years ago, when I first started stamping. I embossed the handbags with detail white EP. The patterned papers and handbag sentiment are from Craftwork Cards.
Lots To Do – Keys
Posted in Uncategorized on January 19, 2009 by craftytrogHere is my entry for this week’s Lots To Do challenge. I used peeled paint crackle paint on the background, with a little dimensional pearl paint rubbed in the corners, wild plum I think. I stamped a few dots in two of the corners, then the girl, in stazon. I added some stamped stitching at the top and bottom, and edged the piece with copper krylon. The grungeboard key is coloured with adirondak raisin dimensional pearl paint (I’ve had the set of these for ages and haven’t used them till recently, they are fab and colour grungeboard brilliantly, just use your finger to spread the paint!) I tied some ribbon on the key before sticking it to the right of the girl. Finally, I used my trusty dymo for the words.

Posted in Uncategorized on January 18, 2009 by craftytrogThese cards are for a customer of mine. I used a lovely christening set of stamps by Joanna Sheen for the christening card, and a handbag card by Craftwork Cards for the birthday card. I have to admit they are not my designs, I got inspiration from their galleries, and just used the materials I already had.
Golfer’s Card
Posted in Uncategorized on January 17, 2009 by craftytrogThis one’s for my brother-in-law whose birthday is this week. I spritzed meadow glimmer mist on the background for the golfer, and Moonglow sprays on the other background, then used stamps by The Artistic Stamper, See D and Clear Stamps.
Object D’Art & Sunday Stampers
Posted in Altered Art on January 16, 2009 by craftytrogThe challenge over at Object D’Art this fortnight, is to alter any sort of tin, and on Sunday Stampers is to use green on your artwork! So I thought I would follow Hels’ example, and combine the two challenges!
I decided to alter a baked bean tin, as I needed somewhere to store my Ten Second Studio tools. To begin with, I gave the tin two coats of lettuce acrylic paint. For the metal strip, I stuck the die-cut letters M, E, T, A & L onto a strip of card, then stuck a strip of brown metal sheet on top. I rubbed over the letters and embossed around them, then I sanded them to make them stand out a bit. I dabbed lettuce alcohol ink over the letters, then used a wheel tool to edge the metal strip. I used a strong double-sided tape to stick the metal strip around the middle of my tin. Next, I made a little border with my favourite Clarity corner stamp, using eggplant dye ink, stuck this around the bottom, then added some dotty ribbon to the top of my tin. I finished off by adding some bling. Now I just need a little space on my desk for my new storage to stand!!
Lots To Do – In The News
Posted in Uncategorized on January 10, 2009 by craftytrogOver on Lots To Do this week, the challenge is to use newspaper on your artwork. Here is my entry. I used a chipboard rectangle from The Artistic Stamper, and painted it with vintage photo crackle paint. Once it was dry, I used my finger to rub cranberry pearlescent paint on the corners, then stamped with background stamps by Lakeland and Artistic Stamper. I stamped the main image by PaperArtsy onto the chipboard piece, then again onto an alcohol ink background. I cut out parts of the image and stuck them to the chipboard. I stamped the words on newspaper, cut them out and added them to the bottom corner. Finally I edged the piece with black stazon, and embellished it with vintage photo distress stickles and a button.

Paint Dabber Technique
Posted in Uncategorized on January 8, 2009 by craftytrogHad lots of fun trying out a new technique that I found on The Techniques Zone! You can see step by step instructions there, but basically, it involves sticking a page from an old book to a tag, adding paint effects to it and stamping on it. Here are the results. The 3 ATCs are for a monthly swap and I’m sending the tag off to Sam at The Technique Zone for a swap, and the chance of some blog candy!
More Metalwork!
Posted in Uncategorized on January 7, 2009 by craftytrogHere are a couple more metalwork ATCs. I had great fun doodling on the metal! I distressed the ATC on the right with a black acrylic dabber :0)
