A Craft Day!

I spent the day at my friend Lucy’s yesterday. The aim was to try out some new techniques, and after 2 hours of chatting and a fabulous lunch cooked by Lucy, we finally got crafting! As Lucy had her copy of the August Craft Stamper handy, I decided to try out Rachel Jackson’s watercolour stamping technique. We also made lots of lovely backgrounds with the new lights and brights alcohol inks, then tried different inks on them with Lucy’s extensive collection of Crafty Individual’s stamps!

We had a lovely day with lots of laughs, especially when Lucy served me cranberry juice in a booby-trapped glass, whose bottom came off when I lifted it up!! Lol!!

Altered frame

It’s taken me a week to alter this wooden frame that I bought from The Craft Barn. I’m still struggling with my swollen hands! I had a lot of fun doing it though, and I’m really pleased with it.

My artwork was inspired by an article by Leandra Franich in the July issue of Craft Stamper magazine. I was also lucky enough to watch her demonstrating these techniques at the recent Craft Barn extravaganza.

The frame was painted with Viva precious metal paints. I also used the paints on the embossed metal around the edges of the frame. The artwork was created with Viva ferro, precious metal, and Croco paints. I added a stampbord domino, which had been embossed with UTEE and a pearly green EP, then stamped into with a Squiggley Ink swirl stamp, and decorated with gold stickles. I used stamps by PaperArtsy and After Midnight, Prima flowers and Basic Grey buttons.

This was a quick card I made for my mum and dad’s anniversary which is tomorrow. The stamp is by The Queen’s Dresser Drawers, and the patterned paper is Basic Grey porcelain.

Lots To Do

I spent most of this morning blog-hopping, and spotted a domino book on Zuzu’s blog. Anyone know if she’s ok, she hasn’t posted for a couple of months! Anyway, I’ve never made a domino book before, so I thought I’d give it a try. First I coloured my dominos with Clover and Raspberry Alcohol Inks, adding some pearl and silver around the edges. Then I sprayed my ‘pages’ with Seafoam Glimmer on one side, and Pink Bubblegum on the other. I added some stream and wild plum dye ink for shading, then stamped my Crafty Individual images in black. Finally, I stamped a couple more CI images on the dominoes and glued the pages to them with glossy accents.

As the theme over on Lots To Do was freestyle this week, I’m entering my domino book for the challenge.

New Baby

Some friends at our church have just had a baby boy, so I dug out my joanna Sheen baby stamps as the images are so cute! Then as I was putting something away to make some space, I spotted some white feathers that I thought would be lovely to nestle the baby in. I created the backgrounds using the new light and bright alcohol inks (pool, cloudy blue & lake mist), added some alphabet beads to spell the baby’s name, a sentiment, et voila, here’s my card…..

Lots to do – Charm-ing

This is a bit last minute, but here’s my entry for this week’s Lots to do challenge. I’ve used Stampotique’s ‘Top Knot’, and made a little shrink plastic charm with her too. This stamp looks just like my daughter Beth, especially the black rimmed eyes!! She’s going to a couple of birthday parties this weekend, so she might be needing this card! Ooh! There’s that black lace again! Lol!

And More Bling!

These are a couple of stampbord pieces, the first of which I’m sending off to a fridge magnet swap over on UK Stamper. The domino piece was decorated with fantasy film, clear UTEE, a Karantha stamp, and zoomz – I spotted this technique on the After Midnight website under tutorials.

ATC Swap – Bling

I’m taking part in an ATC swap over on the UK Stampers forum. Here are my first two, one more to make. On the first one, I used a fabulous Karantha background stamp by Sarah Lawrence, that you can buy from The Artistic Stamper. On the second ATC, I used a beautiful stamp by Crafty Individuals. The inkpad I used on both ATCs is the Adirondak Rainbow, Autumn Sunset. They don’t look particularly blingified in the photos, but they are both spritzed with irridescent gold glimmer mist, and accented with stickles glitter glue!
