The Stampsmith Challenge

Posted in Cards, Stampsmith Challenge on December 28, 2011 by craftytrog

With only a couple of days to go, I decided to join in with The Stampsmith’s Sparkle, Shimmer & Shine Challenge. It made a lovely change to make something non-Christmas, even though it needed some sparkle.

I have used Blue Raspberry Perfect Pearls Mist on my background, some Waterfall Stickles around the edge, & pearl paint dabber on the Sizzix lace border.

Christmas Wishes

My daughter Beth spotted Jo Capper-Sandon’s gorgeous sparkly tag HERE, & requested that I make a Christmas card for her, just like it. So, thanks for the inspiration Jo! Here’s my sparkly card for Beth! She loved it! I used Stampotique’s Minkygirl again, Jo’s star, & lots of glitter! The background is made with Fresco Finish paint.

Think I may have to enter this for Stampotique’s challenge, as a second entry!

Happy Birthday

Posted in Cards, Stampotique Designers Challenge on December 21, 2011 by craftytrog

This card is for my niece, who has a December birthday. I spritzed Sunset Orange Colour Wash through the waste from a Spellbinder die cut, stamped The Stampotique girl, then coloured her with the ink. I stamped a greeting & added some orange gems to finish.

As there’s a bit of glitz on my card, I’m entering it for the Stampotique Challenge.

There’s not much crafting going on here at the moment, all bogged down with Christmas shopping & also some merry-making! ;o)

All is Calm……or is it?!

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 12, 2011 by craftytrog

Today is the final day of Tim’s 12 tags of Christmas, & Tim definitely didn’t hold anything back on his No.12!

Here’s my version. It’s fairly true to Tim’s, but I made a book page flower instead of his tissue tape one. I’d run out of metal foil, so my silver dabber came into play on the vintage lace & ‘WISH’. I stamped onto ordinary paper tissue to make Tim’s fabulous background.

I adore the shabby chic look to this tag, definitely a favourite this one!

Now I can get back to my Christmas preps, finish the shopping, send my cards etc. All is definitely not calm here! Lol!

Christmas Carols

Posted in Sunday Stampers, Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 11, 2011 by craftytrog

It’s Day 11 of Tim’s 12 Tags, & today he used a fab technique called Shrink Mosaics. You can see his video explaining it HERE.

I didn’t have the stamps for today’s tag, they’re not really my thing, so I used the lovely angel from Joyful Song again, and the phrase from Mini Holidays, plus the holly from Mini Holidays 2. I added some rock candy distress stickles to the angel’s wings. The holly is freehand cut again, as I don’t have the die, but I used the mini flourish mover & shaker.

Last tag tomorrow!  Those 12 days are gone so quick! 😦

Hels’ Sunday Stamper’s theme is Christmas, so I’m linking my tag on there too.

Thanks for looking stamping friends! xxx

Here’s my Day 10 tag, fairly true to Tim’s, except I had to make a tissue tape banner as I don’t have the tattered banner die. I added some gold tinsel, & used a pewter button & gold hat pin as I didn’t have any vintage silver baubles to hand! You can see Tim’s tag HERE, plus some fab ones made by Mr& Mrs Stamper’s Anon.

With flash – you can see the wonderful shimmer from the gold perfect pearls.

Without flash – colours are more true

It’s Day 9 of Tim’s 12 Tags, & another fab background technique. This time it’s rusted enamel. I used a background stamp by The Artistic Stamper. I had to draw & cut my candlestick out as I don’t have Tim’s die, not so easy as the snowman! I got the tattered pine cone die this week & decided to give that a try. I definitely need to practise! I’m quite pleased with how my tag turned out, just wish I could have photographed it before it got dark.

Edit… changed the photo for one taken in daylight.

Following Yonder Star

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 8, 2011 by craftytrog

I love Tim’s Day 8 Tag, but I wanted something more Christmassy, so I’ve used the  3 Kings from the Joyful Song plate, and words & a star by Elusive Images.

A Joyful Christmas

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 7, 2011 by craftytrog

I really love the stamp set Tim used today, on his Tag No. 7. The angel image is beautiful, so I just had to use it!

I used copper mixative & various green alcohol inks on the glassine paper holly leaves, but I think gold mixative would have been better, as the copper turned out a bit dark. As usual, I had to hand cut the holly & branches.

Just managed to get my photo taken before it got dark today, I finally got around to doing some Christmas shopping this morning after work! I laid my tag on a piece of music sheet, on a table in the garden, but the wind kept blowing it on the ground! The air was blue I can tell you! Fortunately, I got a couple of decent shots before darkness fell.

Angel

It’s Day 6 of Tim’s 12 Tags, so we’re now halfway already! I wasn’t too sure about todays technique, but decided to try it anyway. Well, I’m now converted!!! I used a cuttlebug embossing folder to embossed the silver metal foil, & aqua, pool, stream &  red pepper paint dabbers to colour it. The piece was sanded, then inked with walnut stain DI, then clear embossed. The angel charm was also painted sanded & clear embossed. It’s all lovely & shiny!

So, here’s my effort…

It’s Day 5 of Tim’s Twelve Tags, & today I decided to makes Tim’s alternative tag. It uses the same technique as his main one, of alcohol resist, but on fragment charms instead of acetate. The deer is from his Christmas silhouette set, & is inked with frayed burlay, then kiss-stamped with the reverse script and black soot.

Frosty

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 4, 2011 by craftytrog

It’s Day 4 of Tim’s Christmas Tagathon, & this one is definitely my favouritest tag of all time ever! It’s soooooo pretty! Tim has crammed an awesome amount of wonderful techniques into it too!

As usual, my snowman had to be hand drawn & cut, but I think I’m getting a dab-hand at Mr Frosty now! I followed most of Tim’s instructions, although the snowflake is a Martha Stewart, & I traced the ’25’ onto music sheet & cut it out. I spritzed my seam binding ribbon with pearl perfect pearls mist, & the toile is left over from the mayqueen dress I made for my daughter a few years ago. I decided not to add the muse token, as I thought there was enough embellishments.

Looking forward to Day 5 now! ;o)

Holly

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 3, 2011 by craftytrog

Here’s my version of Tim’s Day 3 Tag.

I made the custom stamp pad for the first time, it’s brilliant! I haven’t got the matching embossing folder, so I just added some glossy accents to some of the words. I stamped the holly twice, on the reverse of some green core’dinations paper, then cut it out. I coloured some adhesive pearls with cranberry alcohol ink for the berries. I added a brown core’dinations mini flourish behind the holly.

Just adding a new photo, as it’s now daylight. I’ve also given the whole tag a spritz with gold perfect pearl mist to finish, as my daughter said it needed some sparkle & I’d forgotten that step in Tim’s post! Lol!

Happy Holidays!

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on December 2, 2011 by craftytrog

It’s Day Two of Tim’s festive Tags, & here’s my version. Not a lot of impro required today, as I had most of what Tim used.

I did swap the border for some of Tim’s lace strip, & used some mini gold brads instead of long fasteners.

I didn’t have any greenery to go around the deer’s neck, so I used bottle alcohol ink to colour some gold tinsel. I was quite proud of that idea!

Oh Joy!

Tim’s started his 2011 Twelve Tags of Christmas! Here’s my version of his Day One Tag.

He used lots of Alterations dies that I don’t have, so I had to improvise, but I love how it turned out.

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Tim’s Autumn Gatherings, Elegant Flourishes, & mini Rosette Dies. I used grungeboard letters for the word Joy.

I’m entering my tag for Linda’s Grungy Monday challenge.

The Artistic Stamper December Challenge – Icy Christmas

Posted in Artwork for The Artistic Stamper Creative Team, Cards, The Artistic Stamper Monthly Challenge on December 1, 2011 by craftytrog

There’s a new challenge over on The Artistic Stamper Creative Team Blog. The theme is Icy Christmas for the month of December.

I created a card, using a lovely snowy image from the Victorian Christmas 1 Plate. I also used the new Icicle & Snowflake stamps, one of which is free with every order on The Artistic Stamper Website this month.

I started by stamping the image onto white card, using Archival Jet Black Ink. I made a mask, using a post-it note, then stamped the icicles with Versamark ink, above the image. I clear embossed the icicles, then used Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass & Stormy Sky. I stamped the snowflakes with Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. Finally, I removed the mask, then attached my artwork to a square kraft card blank.

Don’t forget to go and visit The Artistic Stamper Creative Team Blog, to see the wonderful artwork created by the rest of the team, & of course to join in with the challenge.
