12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style – Week 7

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Simon Says Stamp & Show on October 31, 2012 by craftytrog

Linda has inspired us with another fabulous Funkie Junkie Style Tag for week 7. There were a few elements on Linda’s tag that inspired me this week…the die-cut deer with embossed resist, the corrugated card, the colours, & the gold embossing. The challenge is sponsored by Linda’s shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Image

My background was white card, coloured with bundled sage distress stain, then inked with bundled sage, peeled paint & vintage photo distress inks. I spritzed with kiwi perfect pearl mist, then stamped some Artemio trees.

The Martha Stewart snowflakes were coloured with pearl paint dabber, as was the corrugated strip.

I embossed the mountains of the corrugated strip, & the edges of my background with Stampendous aged gold enamel. There are a few little gold embossed flecks on the background too, which are just about visible.

The little Tando frame was inked with barn door DI, then a coat of rock candy crackle was added. The stamped words are from one of the new PaperArtsy JOFY plates.

I’m also entering my card for the Simon Says Stamp & Show Challenge, who have asked us to show a pearl. I have used perfect pearls mist & pearl paint dabber.

Wedding Card

Posted in Cards on October 26, 2012 by craftytrog

Here’s the wedding card I mentioned yesterday. I wish the weather would cheer up a bit, it’s impossible to take a decent photo at the moment!

Image

I sprayed patina glimmer mist through a Crafter’s Workshop stencil onto white card, then inked the edges with tumbled glass distress ink. The Sizzix flower was die-cut from two different Basic Grey papers, then spritzed with the glimmer mist. I layered it with a blue pearl brad, popped some lace behind, & attached it to my background. I stamped the sentiment with broken china DI, added a scrap of lace & some gems, then mounted on a square white card.

Collage Card

Posted in Cards on October 25, 2012 by craftytrog

Whilst putting some watch parts away this morning, I spotted a pack of collage elements I’d purchased many moons ago. After a little play, it turned out they were perfect to make an 80th birthday card for my FIL Geoff, with the addition of some vintage photo distress ink, a few metal brads & a Tim Holtz game piece! 🙂

Now, I just need to make a wedding card for Saturday!

12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style – Tag 5

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas on October 24, 2012 by craftytrog

I’ve made a card again, with inspiration from Linda’s gorgeous Tag No. 5. I was basically inspired by all the elements on Linda’s tag, the music paper background, her use of snowflakes as a resist, the colours, the distressed doily die, tickets, etc. As usual, this challenge is sponsored by Linda’s shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Image

I used Tim’s new snowflake die to cut my snowflake from Basic Grey patterned paper, added a die cut net flower between the layers for some extra texture. The letters are grungeboard, covered with Basic Grey paper, then stamped with a Tim script. The distressed doily was coloured using Tim’s scribble stain distress technique, with vintage photo & tumbled glass ink. I spritzed the doily, letters, snowflake & tickets with biscotti perfect pearl mist, for a bit of sparkle, although it doesn’t show up in the photo infortunately. It’s been very dark & miserable here this week, so impossible to take a decent photo 😦

Tim’s 12 Tags of 2012 – October

Posted in Tags, Tim's 12 Tags on October 21, 2012 by craftytrog

Tim has another fabulous technique filled tag to inspire us this month. You can see it HERE. Tim’s tag is halloween themed, but as I don’t celebrate that, I made mine a Christmas tag.

Image

I used pool, citrus, & expresso paint dabbers on my base, with mowed lawn & peacock feathers distress inks. I don’t have the dry glitter that Tim used, so my bauble is covered with Stampedous Frantage red crushed glass glitter, & my letters embossed with aged scarlet embossing enamel.

Image

The tag has a spritz of kiwi perfect pearls spray, which is just about visible in the photo below.

Pink Hands Again!!

Posted in Cards, Simon Says Stamp & Show, Stampotique Designers Challenge on October 19, 2012 by craftytrog

I’ve been using the pink bubblegum Dylusion ink! 🙂

Simon Say Stamp & Show ‘Your Favourite’, which for me is using paint & ink to create my own colourful backgrounds. They’re offering a fab $50 Simon Says Stamp voucher prize for one lucky entrant!

And, the Stampotique Designers are asking for Backgrounds.

So, I started with a background that I made with my Gelli Plate, added some pink bubblegum ink through a stencil, a little bit of background stamping with a Dylusion stamp, a Dylusion phrase, & a Stampotique girly, all coloured with Dylusion inks & my trusty water brush.

12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style – Week 4

Posted in Church Art, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas on October 17, 2012 by craftytrog

It was the colours, the embossed and gingham backgrounds, on Linda’s tag that inspired my card for Challenge No. 4. As usual, Linda’s shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique, are sponsoring the challenge.

Image

I used a gingham background by The Artistic Stamper, and Tim’s Christmas ticket image on a die-cut ticket.

The embossed background was made with a cuttlebug folder, & I die-cut the tattered poinsettia & leaves from Kraft Core paper. After sanding the poinsettia, I inked with forest moss distress ink.

I added some fired brick distress stickles to the background for added dimension, some pearly leaf pins, a pearl star, & some pearl gems.

Compendium of Curiosities 2 – Ink Palette – Perfect Pearls

Posted in Cards, Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge on October 13, 2012 by craftytrog

This week’s CC2 challenge is to use Tim’s Perfect Pearls technique on page 53 of his book. It involves using the Ink Palette, which I don’t have, so I had to use a paint palette instead. This challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp, & they are offering a prize of a $25 voucher to one lucky entrant.

Image

I used a Dylusion flower background stamp, painted with mainly interference perfect pearls, which show up beautifully on black card. The Tim images were coloured with antique linen distress stain.

Image

Unfortunately, you can’t see the shimmer of the perfect pearls in my photos, but you can see the gorgeous colours a bit better, in the photo above.

12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style – Week 3

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Simon Says Stamp & Show on October 12, 2012 by craftytrog

Here’s another Christmas card, inspired by Linda’s Funkie Junkie Christmas tag no. 3. The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I was inspired by Linda’s use of wire mesh, & her lovely distress stain background.

Image

My background has a mix of rusty hinge, peeled paint & antiqued bronze distress stains.

The deer is cut from canvas covered card, covered with tarnished brass crackle paint, then inked with vintage photo stain. I sanded the edges & inked them with walnut stain. I added some ribbon & a bell.

I coloured the mesh first with some copper & then with pearl paint dabber. I die-cut some festive foliage, & coloured it with various distress stains. I added some fired brick distress stickles to the berries.

I finished my card, by adding some alpha part letters to spell ‘joy’.

I’m also entering my card for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Rustification.

Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 24

This week’s CC2 challenge is to use Tim’s alcohol ink resist technique, which can be found on page 59 of his book. It’s a very cool technique! I made an Autumn themed card, using Tim’s new Mini Blueprints stamp set. The background is one that I made with my Gelli-Plate.

12 Tags of Christmas – Funkie Junkie Style – Week 2

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas on October 9, 2012 by craftytrog

So, I’m still way behind with Linda’s tags, but here’s my Christmas card version of her Funkie Junkie Tag 2.

Image

I took my inspiration from Tim’s riveted patchwork technique, & the snowflakes on Linda’s tag. My background is Tim Holtz’s Christmas kraft resist paper, covered with brushed pewter stains. My friend Nicky (Minxy) suggested using the riveted patchwork on a Christmas tree, which worked brilliantly…thanks Nicky!

Image

I found some old Papermania metal alpha tiles, that I’ve had since time began, coloured them with cranberry alcohol ink, & then rubbed them with steel wool. The tree has bottle alcohol ink to colour it. To finish, I added some tinsel & a snowflake charm to the tree, & some silver punched Martha Stewart snowflakes.

The challenge is sponsored by Linda’s shop, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I went to another brilliant Andy Skinner class at The Craft Barn yesterday. Spent a fantastic day, playing with paint, & learning lots of great techniques. We also did image transfer, which is something I’ve not tried before.

So, this morning, I’ve been finishing off my project, & here it is…

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas – week 1

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Out of a Hat Creations challenge on October 5, 2012 by craftytrog

Linda at Funkie Junkie has started her 12 tags of Christmas again. The challenge is sponsored by Linda’s store, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I’m a little behind, but here’s a Christmas card I made, which was inspired by Linda’s week 1 tag. I loved Linda’s background, made with tarnished brass distress stains & Tim Holtz’s marbled stains technique, & that was my inspiration, as well as the other elements on Linda’s tag.

Image

My die-cut heart, stars & numbers were coloured with tarnished brass, then inked with walnut stain distress ink, which gives them a lovely rusty look. I added rock candy distress stickles for sparkle & texture too. My stamped swirls were embossed with enchanted gold EP.

I’m linking my card to the Out Of A Hat Creations Challenge, as the theme is Christmas in October.
