Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas – Bonus Tag Two

Posted in Cards, Christmas Craft, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Tags with tags , , , , , , on December 31, 2013 by craftytrog

Here is my version of the second & final bonus tag for The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas 2013 Challenge. You can see Linda’s beautiful tag card HERE.

Here’s mine…

SANY1534w

I was inspired by Linda’s use of paste through a stencil, & her marbled stain background. I folded my large tag the same way as Linda did, too.

I used Grungepaste through a snowflake stencil, then once it was dry, I used brushed pewter, picket fence & iced spruce distress stains to create the marbled background. I coloured both sides of the tag in this way, then inked the edges with walnut stain distress.

I inked some die-cut tattered lace with walnut stain distress, then attached it to the tag as shown. I stamped the Dawn Hauser greeting & frame onto the die-cut ticket with coffee archival, then inked it with ice spruce & walnut stain distress. I attached it with staples.

I decorated the inside by sponging iced spruce distress ink through the snowflake stencil.

The Funkie Junkie challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, & it now runs until 8th January with the 2 extra bonus tags. All the details can be found HERE. If you complete the challenge, you will get a generous discount to use for one order.

I’m so glad I managed to squeeze in my final tag before the year ended. It has been a wonderful challenge, & huge thanks go to Linda for all her efforts & her beautiful inspirational tags.

Wishing you all peace, happiness & health for 2014,

thanks again for visiting,

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas – Bonus Tag One

Posted in Cards, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Tags, Uncategorized with tags , , , on December 30, 2013 by craftytrog

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas has come to an end, but Linda has extended the Challenge deadline to 8th January, & is inspiring us with two bonus tags.

Here is my version of Linda’s first bonus tag. You can see her tag HERE.

SANY1524w

I was inspired by Linda’s use of a large tag & her background, & coloured my tag using faded jeans distress ink & the scribbled stain distress technique. After die-cutting the small & medium snowflake rosettes, I stenciled faded jeans distress ink through the snowflake topper waste.

I also loved Linda’s 3D holly, but decided to go with the Blueprint snowflake, stamping it with faded jeans, using a wet paintbrush to watercolour it, then cutting it out. I added the smallest snowflake rosette, then some platinum stickles to the snowflake topper.

I was inspired by Linda’s metallic border, & added some to my tag card. I got carried away with the stickles & the border got glittered too.

The ‘Thank You’ was stamped with Archival coffee, then inked with faded jeans. I distressed the edges, then inked with walnut stain.

I watercoloured & cut out the ‘Snowflake’ from the Blueprint image, added some stickles around the edges, & glued it above the sentiment.

I finished off by adding some dyed gauze through the hole of the tag.

The Funkie Junkie challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, & it now runs until 8th January with 2 extra bonus tags. All the details can be found HERE.

Happy New Year Everybody!

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas – Week 12

Posted in Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Tags with tags , , , , on December 24, 2013 by craftytrog

It’s Christmas Eve, and I finally found time to make my Tag 12 for Linda’s Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas. You can see Linda’s gorgeous creation HERE. I was inspired by her use of stars, the silhouette image, & her colour palette.

SANY1514wI used one of my favourite Tim Holtz images again, the Three Wise Men from his Joyful Song plate. It was stamped with coffee archival ink, on a vintage photo, tea dye & antique linen scribble stain distress background.

SANY1512wFor the star, I dyed some burlap & gauze with walnut stain distress re-inker, cut a star shape from the burlap, then layered this with the gauze & a gold sparkly star.

I finished off by adding some gold stickles & german scrap to the bottom of the tag, & tied some gauze through the hole at the top.

The Funkie Junkie challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, & it now runs until 8th January with 2 extra bonus tags. All the details can be found HERE.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

…and Now for Something Completely Different!

Get your sunglasses ready!

Here’s a very bright & rainbowy journal page…

SANY1511wI’ve been following Tammy Garcia’s watercolour journal class on 21 Secrets, learning some cool watercolour techniques. I still need lots of practice with the amount of water I use, but I think I’m getting there.

I’m trying to squeeze a couple more 21 Secrets classes in before it ends on 1st January, but as I’ve done about half of the classes, & I paid the sale price back in July, I think I’ve had my money’s worth.

I think I’ll enter this page for the Stampotique ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge.

Thanks for visiting,

I’m off to do something Christmassy again, & make my mince pies now 🙂

Oh Christmas Tree

Posted in Cards, Christmas Craft with tags , on December 17, 2013 by craftytrog

I’m sharing a card today, that was inspired by one that Anneke of Some Fiddling On The Kitchen Table made HERE.

SANY1493wAs I don’t have the Darkroom Door background stamp that Anneke used, I drew circles on a piece of watercolour paper with a china marker pencil. Then, I used watercolours to paint the tree, added some stickles to the ‘star’, then used a star brad to attach a torn tag & sentiment sticker from my Christmas stash.

Thanks for the inspiration Anneke!

Come Out Of The Darkness

Posted in Art Journal Journey, art journalling, paint party friday with tags , , on December 14, 2013 by craftytrog

I started this page this morning with little idea where it would finish. This seems to happen with most of my art projects. Firstly, it was inspired by Froebelsternchen’s wonderful page HERE. Her quote spoke to me, as it’s been a while since I made an art journal page.

Please click on the photos to see the details & texture.

SANY1481wI decided I wanted to join in with the Art Journal Journey Challenge of ‘Dark to Light’, & I wanted to use a technique that I learned from Finnabair, in her fabulous class, in the Summer.

SANY1479wWhilst I was pasting layers of canvas, fabric & lace onto my page, the above words popped into my head, Divine inspiration, I have no doubt of that. Because, after adding black gesso, white gesso, teal & quin gold paint to my page; I went to look for an image to put on my page, and I found this stamped Madonna & Child image, that the lovely Lynne sent me last January. I think it’s by Oxford Impressions.

SANY1478wI used white gesso to embed the image, then added some more fabric to the left, & lace below.

I would also like to enter this page in the Paint Party Friday challenge.

I hope the message of this page speaks to you,

The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags – Week 11

Posted in Cards, Christmas Craft, Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas, Tags with tags , , , , on December 13, 2013 by craftytrog

I was pretty much inspired by everything on Linda’s gorgeous Funkie Junkie tag no. 11  this week. I needed 5 gift cards for my nieces & nephew, so it was easy to just make a batch of 5, based on Linda’s design. I used Ranger size 10 tags.

SANY1469wI used Indigo Blu mega flakes in Winter Dawn, for the snowflake border, which was stamped using Tim Holtz snowflakes from various Christmas plates.

SANY1471wThe Tim Holtz trees were stamped with Versamark ink, then embossed with Heat It Up Tinsel Snowflake.

I inked the top half with broken china distress ink, the bottom half with peeled paint DI, then stamped the music from Tim’s Joyous Song plate, using vintage photo DI.

SANY1475wI stamped the sentiment on 2 different Sizzix Movers & Shapers labels, inked with broken china & vintage photo DI, added a couple of copper metallic faux brads, then used foam pads to attach to the tag card.

SANY1474wI die cut a little Sizzix Mover & Shaper reindeer, added a coating of copper stickles, & glued it to the tag card, as shown.

I added a sprinkling of tinsel snowflake EP to the card, then finished off with some seam binding, coloured with broken china distress stains & heirloom gold perfect pearl mist.

The Funkie Junkie challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, & it now runs until 8th January with 2 extra bonus tags. All the details can be found HERE.

A Few More Christmas Cards

Posted in Cards, Christmas Craft with tags , , , , on December 7, 2013 by craftytrog

…well, 21 to be exact!

Here’s 3 of them…

SANY1446wThey’re all along the lines of this card that I blogged last week. PaperArtsy Lynne Perella images on a Gelli Plate background. Faces stamped again on white card, & glued in place, then stamped word added.

I think (hope) they’ll be the last Christmas cards I’ll make for this year, although I’ve one more to blog.

Craft Mojo December Challenge – Christmas

Posted in Cards, Christmas Craft, Craft Mojo Monthly Challenge with tags , , , , on December 1, 2013 by craftytrog

It’s time for another Craft Mojo Challenge, & the theme for December is ‘Christmas’.

For my DT piece, I decided to make a card, using PaperArtsy Lynne Perella Stamps. This is becoming a habit! Lol!

SANY1367wI took a Gelli Plate background, stamped & clear embossed the image from PaperArtsy LPC018, then stamped it again on white card, cut out the face & neck, & glued it to the card. I used a white gel pen to colour the tiny stars.

I stamped part of an image from PaperArtsy LPC017 onto white card, cut out the ‘BELIEVE’, then glued it in place. I used part of the same image to stamp swirls around the edge of the background.

I matted my artwork onto black card, then attached it to a kraft card to finish.

Thanks for visiting, & don’t forget to head over to the Craft Mojo Challenge, to share your ‘Christmas’ creations with us. We also have a prize, one lucky player will win a £10 voucher to spend on line in CRAFT MOJO.
