Skidding in by the skin of my teeth, here’s my version of Darcy’s Month 4 Journalling spread.
This month we’ve been…
recycling our scrap papers, stencilling grunge paste over fabric, colouring fabric with paint, using black & white pens for doodling outlines, stencilling on tissue paper, dripping with runny paint, using crackle glaze, & stamping with scrunched up tissue.
Here are some close up shots, I’m really pleased with my attempt at painted lettering…
The Doctor had to get in there again…well, it does look a bit alien don’t you think?!

It was my birthday yesterday, & I treated myself to a brilliant class with the talented Mr Andy Skinner, at The Craft Barn.
Here’s the little 6 x 4.5 ” art journal that I altered, using DecoArt products, Tim Holtz Remnant Rub ons & Ideaology…
I added a panel to the back, that was embossed & painted, then treasure gold added…
Here you can see the painted ruler tape that I added to the spine…
It was a truly fabulous birthday treat, shared with my good friend Hazel, whose birthday it was too 🙂
It was also quite an Andy Skinner club reunion, with my pals Gabby, Mark, Belinda, Kathy, Sharon, Hazel &, of course, Andy!
And, it was lovely to meet & sit opposite the lovely Suz of Surrey Crafts, who happens to be one of my Facebook friends 🙂
It was a brilliant birthday, with lots of lovely handmade cards and gifts! Thank you to all those good friends that sent them, I’ll try & post some photos this week. I have some very talented friends!

Here’s a little cardi I knitted for my best pal Karen’s expected grandson. He’s due in a few weeks, so I thought I’d best get it finished. I started it in February! Lol! I love the colours in this variagated yarn, turquoise, lime, lilac & white, so fresh & pretty.
I have been knitting since primary school, I think it was the first craft activity I picked up, apart from drawing & colouring I guess 🙂
I just noticed the top button doesn’t match the rest! It must be an unintended design feature! Lol! 😉

I decided to make another journal page with the other half of my masterboard, for the AJJ Challenge – Circles.
I used a technique that I learned from Darcy of Art and Sole, to create the circles, then a Burt Bacharach song came into my head!
The song is from the soundtrack to the 1973 film Lost Horizon, which I loved back in my teens. I found the film on YouTube yesterday, in 15 ten minute parts, & watched it again! It seems so cheesy now, but I was singing along! Lol! I still have the LP soundtrack somewhere.

Kaz is the hostess over on the Stampotique Designers Challenge this week, & she has challenged us to use tags.
My tag started out as a Gelli Print tag, I added some guacamole, mermaid & snowflake Fresco paint, then some DecoArt prussian blue shading.
I stamped the Stampotique image, Tim Holtz words, & Kaisercraft film edge, using black versafine, then clear embossed. Added some colour with the mermaid & prussian blue, some hessian ribbon, & a stamped heart brad to finish.

Tim has urged us to use some of our precious charms & embellishments on our May tags. You can see Tim’s May tag inspiration HERE.
Here’s my interpretation…
I kept my tag fairly neutral like Tim’s, using weathered wood & pumice distress inks for the tag background.
The word ‘Creative’ is an Artistic Stamper stamp, that I stamped with pumice stone & clear embossed.
I used papers from Tim’s Crowded Attic paper stack, cutting out & clear embossing a butterfly as an embellishment.
I’m really pleased with how my tag turned out, & I managed to fit everything onto a size 8 tag!

It’s our wedding anniversary today, & after a brief lie-in, breakfast in bed (made by me), I got up to shower & get in my studio. Well’ after 23 years of wedded bliss, Graham is very understanding of my arty obsessions! Lol!
I was inspired by Joanne Wardle’s twisted paper roses on her lovely, arty card on the PaperArtsy Blog last night. You can see Joanne’s card & tutorial HERE.
Here’s my card…
I had some painty book pages on my desk, left over from another painty session, so I added some more accents on the reverse with limelight, marmaid, & claret Fresco paint, using an Ellen Vargo stamp & some punchinella waste. I then tore strips & rolled them into roses as best I could.
On a square card, I stamped Lin Brown’s leafy branch with hey pesto & limelight Fresco, added the paper roses & some Prima metal hexagons, then splattered with watered down Bora Bora FF paint. I finished off with some chit chat sticker words.

We’re off up to London now, for lunch & to see The Committments. Been looking forward to this show for ages, I loved the film when I saw it many moons ago. Fabulous music! 🙂

Over on the Stampotique Designers Blog, Corrie has challenged us to use the colours pink & orange for SDC 146. I love those colours together!
I started with a scribble stain distress background, made with picked raspberry & spiced marmalade, then inked & stamped through a Prima stencil. I stamped the Stampotique bees, then again onto white card, colouring & cutting them out, then gluing in place. Then I stamped the words, inked the edges, & mounted on a kraft card.
