Funkie Junkie Style Christmas Tags – Week 9

It’s Week 9 of the Funkie Junkie Style 12 Tags of Christmas. You can see Linda’s lovely inspiration tag HERE. The Challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I was inspired by Linda’s fab embossed background. I used Brusho Crystal Colour Ultramarine Blue for my background, a PaperArtsy stencil with Grunge Paste, then White Fire Treasure Gold to highlight the texture. The snowflake is a Tim Holtz stamp, embossed in silver & cut out. The sentiment is from a PaperArtsy Emma Godfrey stamp set, as are the snowflakes stamped onto the kraft card.

Christmas Banners

Been playing around with the banners idea from the Funkie Junkie Tag 8, and came up with another Christmas card. I used Artemio stamps and a Gelli Plate print. The challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Crochet Beanie

On our recent travels, we called into Farfield Mill, a restored Victorian woollen mill up in Sedbergh, Cumbria. What a wonderful place! Full of fabulous crafty displays, with beautiful things to buy like clocks, rugs, ceramics, silver jewellery, paintings etc! The resident artists have little studios, where they can create their lovely items. There are also wool spinners and weavers, and I spotted a lovely hand-dyed yarn that I couldn’t resist. I made this cosy beanie with it! The button that looks red in the photo, is actually orange, and matches perfectly. 🙂

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags – Week 8

I’m nearly caught up with the Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge. Today it’s Week 8. You can see Linda’s beautiful tag inspiration HERE.

I was inspired by Linda’s background, her colours, and her use of banners.

I’ve used a Wendy Vecchi background stamp for the banners, with blazing red and olive green Stazon ink. I die cut a Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia from green and red papers, adding gold stickles to the centre. The background is Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Ink, with stencilled Crafter’s Workshop snowflakes.

I’ve used a PaperArtsy Hotpick stamp for my background, spritzed with silver Glimmer Mist, and a Sara Naumann Christmas message stamp. The snowflakes on the background are from a That’s Crafty! Dinky stencil, and the die cuts are Tim Holtz Sizzix.

Seth Apter Classes at Art From The Heart – 13th-14th November 2015

I’ve long admired Seth’s wonderful abstract style of art, and when I spotted that he was coming to teach here in the UK, I immediately jumped on the phone to Art From The Heart! Luckily there were still spaces on his collage class and dimentional stencilling class. 52 Card pick-up was sadly all booked.

I was inspired by Linda’s colours, the stamped background, and the glittery images. Here’s my version…

I’ve used Peacock Feathers and Festive Berries Distress inks, and stamps by Artemio (tree) and Emma Godfrey of PaperArtsy (words). I inked my cardstock with the Peacock Feathers DI, laid a snowflake stencil on it, then spritzed a light mist of water, to create a subtle background. This got slightly lost on the tag, but you can see it on the card if you look closely 🙂

I was inspired by Linda’s plaid background, and the silver stencilling. Here’s my version…

I used Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks for the plaid background, edged with Vintage Photo, and a PaperArtsy Sara Naumann stamp set for the leaves and words. For my focal image, I used That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencil ‘Bubble Tree’ with Golden reg. gel medium coloured with DecoArt Media acrylic in silver metallic.

I used Dylusions London Blue for the colour. The stencilling was done with Golden Regular Gel Medium, then silver Bedazzles were added whilst it was still wet. The die cuts are Spellbinders Nestabilities, covered with aged silver Frantage.

Art Journal Calendar – November 2015

Here’s my November calendar page for Kate Crane’s Art Journal Calendar Challenge.

Brayered various Fesco Finish paints, stencilled with DecoArt crackle paste, rubbed Treasure Gold Brass over this, stamped circles and script from PaperArtsy stamp set ESN13, added punched circles, stamped circles around these with a lid, then used Darkroom Door Alphas for the title. Used Brilliance inks Tiramisu and gold for the stamping.
