Budget Deckbuilding: Myr of Mirrodin

Image

Another Wednesday, another Intro Pack to look at. This time, we have one of the most flavorful creature types of Mirrodin being featured in form of the small artifact servant race called the Myr. They are mostly known to be small creatures and often associated with producing mana, but WotC definitely gave those guys some tools to make an interesting deck in general. Now, whether “Myr of Mirrodin”, this week’s deck, actually manages to rise to the occasion remains to be seen. However, seeing that this deck is listed as being mono-White, there is definitely something interesting hiding in the box. Let’s find out more in the article below.

Stalk’s Videogame Corner: RV There Yet?

Image

Game: RV There Yet?
Developer: Nuggets Entertainment
Genre: Adventure Game
Releases: 2025 (Windows)
Stalk’s Rating: 7/10

There are some attributes to me writing about videogames that constantly come up. For example, chances are that if a new game is about to come out and is hyped by everyone and their dog, I haven’t heard of it. But I am always willing to try out something new, especially if it is multiplayer-friendly seeing how there is a core group of people that I play games with when possible. So, when semi-regular Discord member Xentus entered the conversation some time ago and said that he had a game he would like to play with the group, I was naturally interested in what that might be. Turns out, he talked about “RV There Yet?”, a fun co-op adventure game in which you play a group of people coming back from their holiday and having to take a detour back home; a detour that can hardly be called anything resembling a “road” anymore. With a mod installed that actually increased the number of people able to play the game, we were ready to get the show on the road as a team of five; as you can read in the article below.

Budget Deckbuilding: Metalcraft

Image

Its Mirrodin time again; and what would this plane of everything artifact-wise be without a few colorless cards being featured in a Preconstructed Deck? Today, we feature a Blue-Red artifact-themed named “Metalcraft”; but don’t worry, despite the deck using two colors there are plenty of artifacts to go around. And for the uninitiated, even the name of the deck hints at lots of artifacts being played and even being necessary for maximum effectiveness. So, now that Intro Packs have reached a point where they actually contain sixty cards to work with, I can look forward to give the deck a run-down; and jump right into it.

Stalk’s Videogame Corner: Cryptmaster

Image

Game: Cryptmaster
Developer: Paul Hart, Lee Williams, Akupara Games
Genre: Adventure Game, Typing Game
Releases: 2024 (Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox X/S)
Stalk’s Rating: 8/10

It is 2026, my backlog looks more bloated then ever after I took some time to actually log what I have lying around in digital spaces; and therefore, I decided to just tackle a title to get a first step done on a long journey towards actually playing what I buy. Which brings us to the subject of this article: “Cryptmaster”. I got “Cryptmaster” via one of the Humble Choice bundles, and under normal circumstances I am not really all that thrilled when a new selection comes out due to the fact that Humble often likes to pick genres that I do not really like all that much. Well, we can call this one of the rare cases in which there was a pearl in a pile of mediocrity, because while “Cryptmaster” is definitely not what I would usually go for being a role-playing and adventure game hybrid with a big focus on typing of all things, I can tell you that the game is worth the money I paid for the bundle; which is actually saying something. Let me tell you a story from the crypt and how this unlikely candidate managed to get a thumbs up on this blog.

Budget Deckbuilding: Deadspread

Image

I am sure that there are players that still get the chills when hearing the name “Mirrodin” mentioned. I have talked about the complete balancing clusterfuck that was Artifact Affinity multiple times before, so I am not going into detail here. However, I can imagine that some players were weary of the idea of returning to a plane that is honestly interesting in design and has brought plenty of powerful cards to the game, but was incredibly lop-sided in viability. I can already spoiler that the Scars of Mirrodin block is testament for WotC learning from past mistakes; or at least was at the time because nowadays they seem to hop from one catastrophy into the next. The return of grey cardboard comes with the Blue-Black “Deadspread” deck, which is honesty a pretty fitting name once you understand what the deck is going for. Let’s check it out.

Stalk’s Mini Review-Mashup 3

Image

For this Saturday, I have yet more games that I have played over the last couple of weeks that simply do not offer enough content for articles featuring them as a single entry. I have said it before, but with the deluge of new games arriving on the marketplace every single day, it is basically impossible to keep track of it all, but while I try to give information about a few titles by publishing these reviews, some games are just too small or do not offer enough for a stand-alone entry. This is especially true for incremental games, of which I have played a few that are listed in the article down below, because they often are fairly simple by design. But enough of me bubbling nonsense, onto the video games:

Budget Deckbuilding: Totem Power

Image

The last article of 2025 actually also happens to seal the deal on the first Zendikar block. All fifteen Intro Packs total from Zendikar, Worldwake, and Rise of the Eldrazi have been released over the course of the last few weeks; and in the usual Intro Pack fashion, there have been more stinkers than great decks overall. Well, I can announce that we end the year on a high, since “Totem Power”, the White-Green deck I will take a look at today, is certainly one of the better products that came from that era. This is even more surprising if you think about the fact that this deck uses enchantments a great deal to get going, which normally does not make for a particularly powerful combo; at least not compared to other ways of making your creatures dangerous. Without further ado, let us take a look at this promising Intro Pack.
