As you all may have noticed, I don't really post a lot here anymore. I think my fixation with livejournal has run it's course. Of course, my life isn't complete with out some kind of digital obsession, and this time it's knitting blogs. Of which I've started one at . Feel free to follow me there.

V for Vendetta is a fucking awesome movie. Great fight scenes that were not bullet-timed to death (except for one at the end, and it was used appropriately), good acting all round, and a fanfuckingtastic story. Also, eerily plausible.

I'll be in Montreal on Sunday and Monday, but with no time to socialise, as we'll be cleaning out the apartment. Any one who wants to drop by to say Hi though, is more than welcome. Cell-phone number is 416-807-6236.

Had a job interview today, which I think went well, so hopefully that will pan out.

Also, I held up filming for Shoot 'Em Up by accidentally walking through the scene they were trying to shoot, but Clive Owen smiled at me! This is my fangirl moment for the day.

Other odd thing noticed today -- at the College and Yonge metro station, one side of the tube has a bunch of guys in Leafs uniforms painted on the wall. Facing them from the other side, a bunch of guys in Habs uniforms. Neat.

Note to self: Cranberry juice and laptop keyboards do not mix.

At least I got it turned off and drained all the juice out before it exploded or something. But now all my keys are sticky, and typing is a bitch.

So, not that I'm trying to ruin it or anything, but Ultraviolet really sucked. It looked as though there may once have been a relatively adequate storyline there, but it was destroyed in the course of trying to justify all those fight scenes.

Re: the preview I saw for Mel Gibson's Apocalypto? Would someone please take that man's camcorder away? From the preview it looks like he grabbed 'generic freedom fighting script #4' and then went 'Hmm. Aztecs. No one's done Aztecs yet, right?'

In news no one cares about, I've put on two pounds. I'm choosing to believe this is muscle mass. I have been going to the gym, after all.

Oh, my aching arms.

Joined a women-only gym on Wednesday. Actually went in yesterday, did some wimpy little weightlifting and some wimpy little cardio, and today I am a big bowl of wimpy jelly. Pregnant snails could've done what I did yesterday without ill effects, so clearly it was about time. I'll go back in and do some more wimpy cardio today, but the weights will have to wait for a few days.

In other news, brown rice with my standard taco fixings -- cheese, salsa, and sour cream -- is muy tasty.

I feel: frustrated Ouch!

Please, tell me there's still hope.

We're putting together a new pc for my mother-in-law, and she chose her monitor and keyboard/mouse. Frankly, I hate all of them.

The monitor is a 17-inch Viewsonic VE710b LCD. It does this wierd thing where everytime the pc is powered off or the resolution changes (i.e., when we run WoW or any other game) it has to auto-adjust itself, and often as not, the desktop will be squished all the way to the left, so the start menu is inaccessible. This can be manually adjusted, but is a pain in the ass.

The keyboard/mouse . . . it's a logitech wireless set, and the keyboard has about a million more buttons than are necessary, and the Function keys have to be TURNED ON, they are by default mapped to do things like open MS Word, and WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT? And I can't map the mouse key to go back in Mozilla, although it claims it is mapped, I had to set it to replicate the backspace key. WTF?

Tell me it's better than this, somewhere.

Regarding the nohari/johari windows in my last post, it's interesting how many more of you were willing to point my good traits than my bad traits.

I have hooked with the TRPA here in Toronto. I've even found someone who's starting up a Paranoia game. Now if I can just find someone willing to run SLA, I'll be a happy frog.

Beyond that, no job yet. I'm looking at getting a cheap convenience store job or something and taking the time to get my A+ cert. Need to head back to Montreal soon for a visit, as I am really missing hearing French on the bus.

I feel: blah blah

I got home around 2.30 am, set the alarm(s) so I would be sure to wake up for work. Apparently I did something wrong because one is off, the other is claiming it's twenty to six (which would be wrong), and I'm an hour and a half late and I haven't even left the house yet.

At least it's my last day.

Hitting my head on the ice last night sucked hardcore. I now have a medium sized bump on the back of my skull. The chronic coughing is turning what would have been a fleeting soreness into an equally chronic headache.

Things I MUST DO TONIGHT:

1) Laundry One load in dryer, one currently in washer.
2) Pick up kitty roofies from vet Done! Roofies safely in pocket.
3) Pack at least three boxes of books
4) Cook some real food Out of the oven in 15 minutes!
5) Do at least one load of dishes Done! I might even have a burst of spastic and do a second load, which would pretty much clear the dishes entirely.
6) Watch last two episodes of season two.

The TV and the bulk of the library are in the same room, so it looks like I'll be able to hit every item on my list tonight! My husband will be astonished.

B5 now has THREE, that's right, THREE episodes that have made me wail like a slapped child.

Glabro is a kick ass GM, and a damn fine country singer.

I skidded to work today.

I feel: chipper chipper

I am a special kind of tired right now . . . As I was on my way to bed last, I heard a knock at my door. Lo and behold! Monkey and Kyn appeared to drag me out of my cave!

It was a very fun evening of karaoke and beer, but I really could have done with more than two hours' sleep. I'm glad I let myself be coerced out.

So . . . I've just sent this email to an awful lot of people. If you didn't get it, it's because either you: a) don't have an email address listed on your livejournal profile, or b) you don't actually live in Montreal. Or because I just didn't think of you in that damn giant list of people I just sent it to. None of these should be interpreted as a reason not to attend, if you can swing it.

Greetings!

As most of you are aware, Mnem and I are displacing to Toronto at the end of the month. I realise that for a lot of you this will be just like me living here, considering how much we don't leave the house, but all the same, I'd appreciate it if you could all come render your condolences in person at Grumpy's on Friday, January 27. The mourning starts at 8 pm, and will continue until we get kicked out or the sun comes up, whichever comes first.

Pass this email around . . . if you know anyone who'd like to come say goodbye, by all means, tell them to come! On this night, there are no grudges or arguments. Life's too short . . . and Toronto's too far away.

Jess

So, last night, in the middle of a conversation with Mnem, my desktop suddenly decided it didn't like its network connection and dropped it for no reason. The laptop is (obviously) still functioning, so this is clearly not a router/modem issue, but I was in no condition then, or now, to go crawling under the desk checking wires. I don't think I've been this tired since the time I stayed up for 50 hours in a row. I'm getting old.

On the upside, I have blue hair now.

Things accomplished today:

Appointment made with vet for kitty checkup, and sedative prescription. I can all too easily imagine the havok wreaked by two nervous cats on a five hour car ride.

Batteries and hair dye purchased. Mm, fun.

Things to be accomplished this evening:

I dunno yet. The night is young. Hopefully, I will be productive.

Just finished watching Season 1 of Babylon 5, for the first time ever. I think I would go so far as to say it's better than Trek, which those of you who know me know I would normally consider heresy.

And then I had a really long nap. Mmmm.

I can't wait to see Season 2!

I still won't vote for them, but that gave me a (probably unintentional) giggle.
