It was supposed to be a simple mission. Get in, grab the goods and then get the hell out. If so, why was everything in such a mess?

Lady Une didn't have much information about the building. She gave what information she did know to them, warning them to use extreme caution. They'd scanned the building for explosives and came up with nothing. It was that result that put a pit in Heero's stomach. Something wasn't right and the whole mission seemed too easy. He kept his mouth shut though, not wanting to jinx what could be good fortune.

They had landed and for the moment, nothing was happening. They opened the door with no problems and headed in. They took each level slowly, nosing around for explosives that might have been missed. While everyone went up, Heero took the down. Nobody thought twice about him heading down there alone. He was an ex-Gundam pilot after all. He could handle anything, right?

Wrong.

Heero had just gotten to the second flight of stairs when he felt the rumbles and heard the familiar sound of bombs going off. He steadied himself on the stairs, turning to run back up with the rest of his team. He was cut off by rubble blocking his only exit out. He growled, kicking at the fallen building. This wasn't supposed to happen. How had any of them missed this? How had he missed any of this? He had been trained for this, but complacency had made them all think it would be easy.

The ground rumbled under him again, throwing him against the same pile of rubble he was just kicking. "Shit!" he turned to run down the stairs, hoping he would find cover under something down there. He took a quick glance around the room and groaned. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The sound of splitting rock reached his ears, along with the beeping of another bomb. A beeping that was too close for comfort to him. He turned to see the red blinking light, another curse escaping his lips. He started to run away from the device, a split second too late as it went off, the blast throwing him into the hard wall. He blinked his blue eyes, trying to clear the haze in his head from hitting the wall so hard. He turned over to get on his knees, his head wanting to split from the pain.

The ringing in his ears did well to mask the sound of the last device beeping a few yards from his prone form. He tried to look around the room to find a way out, only to find that device. He sighed, his body giving up the fight to pass out, right as the device went off.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Preventers had looked for them. They had turned the flattened building upside down looking for everyone from Alpha team. Trowa and Wufei also turned the place over multiple times to search for their friend. Each sweep of the building where they couldn't find him made them frantic. They had to find him and they had to find him alive.

After 9 hours of non-stop searching, they finally gave up. They were out of light and even the bright lamps set around the building were no longer helping. Heero was gone and that only meant one thing. They were going to have to mark him as KIA, Killed in Action.

Wufei swallowed the lump in his throat, his dirty hands clenching at his sides. How did they mess this up? "Dammit, you were supposed to be the only one out of us all that could survive anything!" he ground out, his heart sinking more into his stomach. He delayed the inevitable for a few moments longer before he picked his mobile up, dialing the number for direct access to Lady Une's office.

"Une. This better be good." Her voice was short and clipped, which told just how much she was stressed out about this mission. He sighed, gripping his cell phone tighter. "Commander....." he started, his voice tired with a slight sound of sorrow to it. "KIA..." was all he said after a few minutes, hearing her sharp intake of breathe. She didn't ask him to repeat himself, she knew what he meant and who he meant. ".. Roger. Get back home." She hung up before he could say anything, leaving him to listen to the dial tone.

This next part, he didn't want to do. He slowly dialed a familiar number as his throat tightened. This wasn't going to be good. He should have called someone to be there for the person he was calling. He should have called Hilde, Sally, fuck even Relena before dialing this number. Before he could cancel the call, he heard the familiar joyful voice come over the phone.

Wufei was quiet for a few minutes, just listening to the background noise over the phone. Could he seriously tell this person some of the worst news he could ever receive? They were all close since the war. To hear that one of your own friends, as close as they were, died; it was a horrible feeling. He needed to escape the prying eyes of the other agents. He walked away to close himself in the Preventers truck, his free hand gripping the wheel.

"Maxwell, something happened. Yuy.." he stopped his words, teeth gritting as He tried to force the words out. "Duo, Heero is gone." he hated saying this to his friend. He knew his words were tearing the other up and that killed him."I'm ... so sorry."

Heero never thought that after the war, he would be partners with Duo Maxwell. He also never thought he would also be the pilot's roommate as well. you would have thought that he hated the braided one with the way he treated him during the war. Now here they were and probably a bit like best friends.

Well, as close to set friends aa Heero would let him.

Heero yawned as he stretched at his desk, hearing the satisfying sound of his back popping. It had been a long day of paperwork and typing up reports for Une to read.

He looked over and felt the side of his lips twitch into a half smile. He stared as Trowa laughed into his cell phone, whispering plans that he no doubt made with Quatre. That he definitely saw coming during and after the war. They didn't waste time in getting together. They didn't speak of their relationship at first. It wasn't until 3 months after they started seeing each other that they brought it to the attention of the other pilots.

Wife scoffed but out of respect for them, never made a homophobic comment. Duo didn't seem to mind either. From the way he made it out to be, he knew all along.

Heero, well, he didn't mind either. In fact, he was a bit jealous deep down. He wanted to find that someone who understood him like that. Who would look at him with the love he saw in their eyes looking at each other.

He wanted.... Duo.

He shook his head and brought a hand up to rub his forehead. The beginnings of a headache were stirring. He didn't understand what made him want to be with Duo in that way. The other never gave him the idea that he was gay so he couldn't understand why he wanted Duo. Duo had always had that girl, what was her name? Hilde? Hilda? Something to that degree. He had continued to talk to her after the war and from all that, he figured the braided one was straight.

He couldn't even say he was fully gay or not. He has only ever wanted one person and that was Duo. Thinking about doing things with other men, like kissing, didn't appeal to him. It was the same if he was thinking about kissing women. None of that got reactions out of him unless he thought about Duo.

He blushed and stood up from his desk, mumbling a goodbye to the others. He needed to leave now before he embarrassed himself. He only heard a few words that came from Trowa as he started to walk out. Something about drinking and him joining.

He heard a collective "yea!" from almost everyone, including Duo. He definitely wasn't going now. He shook his head, offering the brunette a slight smile. "Maybe next time."

Thanks to Duo, he had learned to lighten up a bit after the war. Not much though, in the words of Duo. He found it easier to smile and make a few jokes but he was still his antisocial self. It wasn't a surprise to everyone that he declined.

CHARACTER |
✭ AFFECTION: He's not opposed to physical touching unless you make him angry or he doesn't like you. He won't return the affection, but he won't just shrug you off if you're close to him. If he's ever able to get into a relationship, that might change but only behind closed doors.
✭ VIOLENCE: Serious things, I would like for you to ask me first. I'll probably be fine with it, but I would still like to know about it though.
✭ RELATIONSHIPS: If it happens IC in the game then yes.
✭ MENTAL: Heero is complicated. He's going to come off with a cold, business-like demeanor. It's to be expected aftering being thrown into war at the age of 7 and continuing to be in a war until he was nearly an adult. He is very self-sacrificing, as it can be seen where he would throw his life away without a second thought to save others. He also carries a lot of grief and remorse for his actions, which is most likely the cause of this self-sacrificing attitude.

According to other sources (ie Doctor J), He's said to be a very kind-hearted young man. He just learned early on to keep his emotions reined in when doing a mission.
✭ MEDICAL: He is in top shape, what is asked of him for his job. He works out regularly to stay as healthy as he does. He is littered with scars from the war. The biggest one being from him self destructing in Ep 10. It's also hinted that he was medically enhanced during his training. Examples being he can bend steel (as seen in Ep 7), heal faster than others (speculation because of him only needing to recover 1 month after self destructing to be at 60% mission capable).
✭ TRIGGERS: Somethings about his past will make him clam up. The little girl and her dog is one big thing. Other things about the wars in general are a trigger to him. Some make a bigger impact than others, so tread carefully when bringing up the wars.

✭ FOURTHWALLING: For now, I would be against fourthwalling. I apologize.
✭ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: As of right now, nothing.
