Goodbye Chicks

So the kids had no choice. . . .  it was time for the chicks to go.
So we sent them away to live on the farm.  I know this looks like a far away place, but it was actually only a few miles away.   A big dust storm came through as Ethan rescued one of the chickens.

This is where their new home will be - they couldn't be happier. . . . really

Enjoy your new life. . . so sad you didn't even get to lay us one dang egg!
I just couldn't take your dirt digging - flower tearing - poop droppin love anymore

Freedom Festival

I always have wanted to go to the Freedom Festival and see the hot air balloons get blown up and take off.  Finally this year we went for it.  But the only day we could do it was the busiest day on the 4th.  We went and watched them blow up.  It was fun to see.

 This guy was really nice

He had us come and look inside the balloon so we could see the moon
Image
Most of them were blown up  . . . but not all

Image
When a gust of wind came and started blowing the balloons
Dan went and helped hold down this balloon . . . . it was crazy!
Image
So we never got to see the balloons go UP just blow over and then they took them down and put them away.  Maybe next year we can see them actually go up.  But we saw something that I will most likely never see again.

I have a video of all the chaos but I can't figure the videos out yet with my new camera

Dry Mtn . . . replanting

So Dan has been working with the forest service on getting Dry Mountain replanted after it burned in 2001 - that was TEN years ago.
He has suggested and helped some scouts earn their eagle on planting some trees in the burned areas.  He was thrilled when these boys wanted to do this and he took Devyn and Jacob up and went along.
~
I believe they planted about 250 trees?

We need to plant several thousand more trees on that mountain.  If you are interested or know anyone who is give us a call!

MOAB

This year my brother Scott and his family planned a trip for us to all head down to Moab.  It was such a fun little vacation.  After dinner the first night most of us went on a walk in town on a trail - which lead us to a cool park and some other fun scenery.

I swore this lizard was dead but when he put it back on the ground it ran off.  I think it kind of liked his warm hands

We hiked Delicate Arch and watched the sunrise

Sun rising at Delicate arch - we had to do Silhouettes

If only it were possible to have the arch in the background but for that to happen the sun would have to rise in the West.

Love this little cutie!  Love this photo!

Yes - we were Arch Hogs!

Ya - I think this is where I was about killed.  I was in the back seat and the jeep almost rolled over me.  Finally they let me out so I could get a picture of them rolling over . . . they were lucky!
